It is most creative of them all.

Get THE RING MOD!! No question about it, and get a copy of the Lord of the Ring Mod article to tell you how to get the most out of it. it 's amazing with other CV controlled equipment, and the CP 251.

The Ringmod is great if you want outer space sounds, or to simulate some more modular style effects. It is also good for tremelo, or used as an extra oscillator.

However, I don't think this is my desert Island Fooger. I think the one that I use the most is the 104z.

It really depends on what you want it for. I heard the ringmod and sought it out solely because the tremelo circuit in the Rhodes ha burnt out (literally, it is a lightbulb) and I wanted to get tremelo again, but I found that it did so much more. I happen to like Sci-Fi, so the 102 was perfect. This led me to the dark side.

After that, Ive owned almost all of them except the flux and I am building a modular synth. Welcome to the dark side.

Thanks everyone for the replies! I thought maybe starting a new thread about this, but anyway, I've got a extra Roland EV-5 pedal that I don't use at the moment. Is it compatible to use with the CP-251?

I've searched and there is an old thread about this question was never answered. Anyone use the EV-5 with the CP-251? Probably will get a Ring Mod, but will wait until I get more comfortable using the CP-251 with the MiniBrute. Dark Energy, and maybe include my SP.

Thanks!

Jim

I do not know. I know that what is needed is a 50k or 100k Linear Taper pot.

Hey, thanks for the info., but the Roland site, nor the manual doesn't mention anything about connecting to a CV device. Don't think much of the pedal but I have it here....just wondering?

Unfamiliar with these things and how they work? All an expression pedal is is a potentiometer connected to a secondary pot that controls the range of the primary pot. Unfortunately, Roland, being the bastards they are, does not list the parameters or the taper of the pot they use in the EV-5. You can try it, but don't be upset if it doesn't work. The worst thing that can happen testing the pedal with Moog gear is...nothing. As in, no response. :)

I have an EV-5 foot controller and it does work with the CP-251, but it has been some time since I've used it so I can't give you anything more than that. You will need TRS cables for mutlislot patches though, something to do with a + and - voltage send: there is more detail on this in the CP-251 manual you can download from the website.

Thanks again Roy! The EV-5 does connect using the TRS plug. All I've ever used it for is as expression pedal for Midi. Wasn't sure about CV. And oh yeah, I've downloaded the CP-251 manual and read through it many times!!

BTW - did you get those patch cables from Sweetwater? I assume they work OK? I ordered 6 of them, but haven't used them yet as I haven't ordered the CP-251 as yet - waiting on the MiniBrute to arrive (6-18-12 as I've been told). Getting close!

Thanks again! :D

I make my own patch cables. It's cheaper that way.

Anyone to care to share some tips on how to combine the CP-251 and Minibrute. I tried some things but do not hear much going on...

Cp 252!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I'm waiting for my Minibrute. I will try all kinds of things and than I can report!

I feel stupid. I'm waiting for something like Cp-252 so I delay with something modular.
I know that I just cant buy few modules, that would substitute Cp-252 in price and space.

Send some CV outs into the mixer of the CP-251, then take the output of the mixer and send it to the LFO of the 251, take the output of the LFO and send it to the Filter in of the Minibrute. :)

I was thinking that Doepfer does also if you look at our renderings of CP sized foogers prior to their release of the Dark Energy.
