When I visit the moog forum, I scan the home page for new dates. To save time I don't open subforums that don't have new dates. While spam can be ignored, you can't see the spam threads/posts until you open the subforums. I am more than annoyed when this happens because it is a waste of my time.

I have a lot to contribute, and I learn a lot from other members. But I refuse to navigate through ads and this will not be the first forum I have left because of spam infestations. If Moogarchives and FenderRhodes can shut out the spam, so can Moog Music.

I would surely hate to see you go.

I think that Moogarchives got rid of spam by not messing with the forum anymore but I can't verify that. It's difficult to get a hold of Roger sometimes.

Fenderrhodes.com was run by one guy who ended up spending all his resources combating human spammers. He took the forum down and announced his retirement and thankfully someone from the community there took up the task of supporting it. I don't frequent there much so I can't comment on how they deal with spam thee days, but Im very glad they keep it up because they have loads of people there that are essentially gathering information on every single aspect of the Vintage Rhodes and for that community to dissolve would do Rhodes owners a disservice.

I can't read Russian, but it makes me read fewer spam headings !
I encourage everyone to hang tough while the good folks at Moog Music regroup
from conventions, and moving into new quarters. Someone just needs to scour
the forums once or twice a day, and block those who join just to trash them.

all the best-

Nice to see that a thread like this finally survived... I posted a simillar thread a few weeks ago but someone just deleted it.
Agree with most of the above here. Make some regulars from around the globe moderators and the problem will be less noticable for most users.

I haven't been on the forum for a while but I don't see any spam anywhere.

I guess some action must finally have been taken.

I forwarded this thread to several people at Moog, asking them to please take the advice given, and talk to some volunteers about keeping the forum clean. Thanks for sticking with us, and for offering your helpful suggestions!

Amos; Why don't you just implement manual registration/control of users ? This works fine on the Fender Rhodes forum. Everybody has to answer a few questions to prove they are human and have some knowledge of the subject matter and send this information to the moderator. The moderator then accepts the user manually. Lots of work I know but we are many on here who would gladly help.

+1 Krinor

Moog needs to add a few of us as moderators as well.

Oh, & all these *bumps* are getting spammy.

Here we have a group of people trying to trying to take care of their community, we can't do this by sweeping it under the rug. Its no big deal, but its not getting better. Its simply annoying. I guarantee you though that porn headings have the potential to lose customers. Some people use their wallets in line with their principles. If one person was preturbed by just a headline without seeing graphic images, they will tell someone else about the integrity of the company.

Other forums have dealt with this by making moderators of non-employees.
Get a few devoted individuals to police, and your problem goes away.
It's not like there aren't plenty of people here who would jump at the chance to help.
