The more severe problem I have was mentioned before by others. Somehow saving presets does not work well. You need to turn every knob on the Minitaur so the editor finds the current position. Opening a preset from the editor and going on from there is tricky when saving the sound. Knobs that were not touched are then often saved incorrect as if the editor could not find the current position of the knob.

I like the sound of this little bugger alot but problems with incorrectly saved sounds are bad and reduce the fun and proffesional aspect much.
For example I wanted to send in a track this week for mastering. I needed to record the bassline again and opened the saved preset within the editor and was shocked on how wrong this sound was saved. I am now still working on that bassline in order to find the perfect settings I had some days before...
Maybe we have units that were on the same batch, because that one right there also happened to me, amongst other things I don't remember.

I just updated to 2.0.4 let's check this out boys and girls.

As you can tell if you read the latest comments, patience is gone. We have been patient and obviously that is not working. I have owned this Creativity-Crusher for over a year and still can't use it. This is seriously shitty on you and Moog's part. Personally, I wish I had bought the Dave Smith Tetra instead. Much more options, analog and .....ready for this.... THE EDITOR WORKS FLAWLESSLY!!!!!!!!!

Fellow MT suffers, I call on you to join me in spreading the word on Moog's poor ass attention to it's customers and it's products. As of August 1st, if there is no fix for ALL of the issues with the MT, then I (and I hope the rest of you) will find every website that offers a User Review of the MT and voice our frustrations there. Like every other corporation, profit is the most important thing. If we can reduce the amount of people who actually buy this shiny turd, then maybe something will actually be done about it.

I agree with the last poster, there are many other options to get phat analog sounds these days and almost all those options are performing better than Moog is these days. Very sad, but true......
Exactly.

I just made the upgradeto firmware 204 and I'm typing this as I hear a stuck note on the minitaur.

Just as before.

Nothing changed

I guess If we all MASSIVELY send our units back to Moog, they'll finally agree to do something about us.

This is just a disgrace.

To Amos: FW request, just to remind you :^)
Please implement a combination of CC data, by sending them we able to get the current state of the synth as a 'snapshot' of CC's (not as sysex), such as you did for the new SubPhatty FW.

Hey boys and girls. I finally got my minitaur back into working order by installing the 1.0.2 firmware.

I cant do bleep with the editor like capturing or saving presets. But at least the "under the hood" parameters seem to work from the editor.

I'm still using the new editor. Maybe if I switch back to the old editor? h,m I dont want to risk it too much because I remember the previous editor didn't work at all for saving presets, so I'm in the same situation anyways.

At least the minitaur is not freezing anymore :) (so far let me knock on wood... there)

10 days until Minitaur bashing day!!!!!!!!!!!!
Everyone, here is a quick list of websites to hit

and I am sure there are a many more.
If you want to see this bullshit rectified, then this is exactly what needs to be done.
LET"S DO IT!

I should also add the following:

I do believe in this company and I do love the sound of all my moog gear (and I have a bunch), but these issues with the MT are unacceptable.
However, I will do my best to delete all negative reviews or, if that is not possible, repost a positive review when the problems are fixed, but only when ALL issues are resolved. This way we get what we want and when it is done, we can go back to being PROUD MOOG OWNERS!

Hi everyone, Amos here. I just got back from a summer holiday, I'm rested, refreshed, and ready to work on Minitaur firmware. Just to remind everyone, I wasn't able to work on Minitaur sooner because I was working full-time on Sub Phatty. At this time, I am the sole programmer responsible for both of these products.

[edit: updated link to newer version, ignore the following "it doesn't work" posts which refer to an older version]

So, here is Minitaur firmware v2.0.7, with a number of improvements.

http://www.moogconnect.net/downloads/mi ... v2_0_7.syx

Here's what I've done so far:

- MTC (MIDI Time Code) is ignored now
- LFO Clock Sync is better
- changes to system-level timer code, might fix some lockup issues
- fixed bug in Envelope Attack (Reset now works properly)
- Relative pot mode improved (same as latest Sub Phatty)
- implemented true Beat Frequency control (like Sub Phatty)
- added "request all parameters" via MIDI (send NRPN 0, value 127 [cc99 value 0, then cc6 value 127])

I haven't directly addressed any USB connection issues yet, so please test this and let me know if you are still having that problem or any other problems.

Next, I will add some more of the features requested in this thread:

- save under-hood settings on power-down
- save presets from panel / via MIDI CC
- add kb gate-on / note hold (with front-panel shortcut)

and later, even more new features. Of course I'll also work to fix any bugs which still exist.

kind regards,

Amos

PS) freebot: is your handle by any chance a reference to the movie / mts3k episode "Robot Holocost"?

Thanks for the update Amos!

I tried it and so far, the unit freezes every time, after 20 minutes or so.
Sometimes, if there is a note being played it gets stuck, and it stops receiving CCs. The next time it doesn't respond to MIDI notes anymore, or it can simply stop responding completely, and the sound is gone. On another occasion, it simply began to make some weird and nasty noises. That was really cool, but totally out of control!

I am using the unit as MIDI and CV only atm, no USB.

If I roll back to 2.0.4, the unit works almost without hiccups. After several weeks of hard use it only froze about two times.

Any other experiences already?

2.0.5 doesn't work for me...freeze every time.

2.0.4 works fine.

OK, I was trying some new things, and wanted to get a test version out as soon as possible... I'll clean up the problems with 2.0.5 today.
Thanks for checking it!

Try this version. It seems to be much better behaved.

http://www.moogconnect.net/downloads/mi ... v2_0_7.syx

I left it running for a long time using USB and DIN MIDI, with Ableton Live 9 sending clocks and MIDI notes while I turned knobs... everything continued to work. I got an occasional stuck note only when hitting Stop in Ableton Live, and I think this is Live's fault as it sometimes fails to send a Note Off if you stop the transport in the middle of a note. That's the only problem I experienced in this testing session.

let me know how it works for you...
