I bought a Behringer Xenyx 802 just last week for the incredible amount of 52 bucks. Not bad at all. Build quality and finish is impressive for a mixer this price. What sold me on it, besides the looks and low cost, is the FX send level for each channel. At any rate, it is less noisy than the mixer it replaces and that was twice the price. For what I am using it for, I would say it's a good bargain.

It seems to be hit or miss with them. The quality control seems to be the main issue with Behringer. I tested the same model amp I use for my USB turntable in a music store, and the floor model suffered from scratchy pots and intermittent jacks. Like mine, it sounded pretty good, other than the mechanical issues. The guy said, "You can have this unit for $60. We go through five of these floor models a week,"

Mine has no mechanical issues, but then, I don't adjust the volume much, and it never leaves the corner of the room it's in, nor do I unplug the turntable from it ever.

$52 for a new ANYTHING is a bargain as far as mixers go. good call! :D

Just for the record, I have Behringer RX1602 mixer that I feed my Alesis drums, a few effects returns and 3 channels of JoMoX drums into before it gets routed into my main board. It's actually as good as any chinese made mixer for the price. Has not fallen apart, is quiet and has alot of features in 1U.

Then I have a $1,800 Allen & Heath mixer that I am thankful that I had the $$ for (at the time). When it arrived it head a flaky Pan pot and had to be replaced. Unless you are spending thousands and thousands of dollars, don't be fooled into thinking you are getting rock solid quality just because of a name or a price tag.

The only Chinese mixer I have ever had satisfaction with was my friend's Pyle Pro...Pyle has a reputation for well-built and affordable professional gear, with great customer service. http://www.parts-express.com/pe/showdet ... r=248-4362

That's great! I love DIY.

What capacitor values have you chosen to put in the ladder ?

i use 47nF caps matched to 1%... i haven't measured them so they aren't on the board as you can see... and since transistors are really instable to temperature i used CA3046 quad transistor array. In fact the three couples are matched by pairs and thermocoupled to improve stability :D

Not a very close clone, is it? Where are the hand-matched transistor pairs? All I see are IC sockets.

www.youtube.com/watch?v=8i_TqNc0TXU Pause between 3:08 and 3:10. This is how the Minimoog Ladder Filter was designed. The modular 904, also in the Taurus, was a little different. At any rate, you won't find a single IC in either circuit. :)

Nice to see you have some action on your synth.

I got a Q137 power module yesterday, but it seems to be faulty. I already replaced the fuse holder with one from my parts bin, and now it's not powering anything. Got an e-mail out to Roger. Also got a Q110 noise source. One or two modules a pay period is all I can afford, though. :(
