We'd love to play A show, but logistics makes it difficult. The drummer lives in Seattle. It's actually a pretty neat system we have. The guitarist and I work on tracks and then send them to the drummer. He writes all of the drums in EZDrummer then sends back the MIDI files. We are looking into how to perform live though. One thought is to write songs that are specifically for playing live. More ambient/experimental stuff without the need of a drummer and keep the stuff with drums strictly for albums. Kinda cool concept I guess. We shall see. If we figure something out, I'll send ya a PM!

Are the drums also from the Polysix on the first track ?

Anyway, very nicely done. Maybe a little long in the mid part though, but that's only a matter of personal taste. But that P6 sure sounds creamy. Reminded me a little of another great song by Rush, "Countdown", full of synths too.

Drums are not polysix. I used samples from a Casio Rapman ( ). You might be right about the midsection. Should probably trim at up.

What a rich tone! I tried to get that drone on the iPad version but it doesn't have the same presence.

I agree. The tone of the Polysix is incredible. This is my very first VCO poly, having owned several VA synths and DCO analogs, and HOLY MOSES do VCOs make a difference! Even disabling the effects section and just playing the raw oscillators sounds fantastic. I think I have made a lifelong friend.

Being old, or older, as the case may be, then probably the average Mooger on this forum, my computer skills are perhaps not up there where it just seems natural (like my daughter who grew up with computers). Of course, age probably has little to do with it... Anyway, I thought I'd try to get a song or two on the internet in some form or another and to do that I'd have to teach myself how. So, at the same time I experimented with Windows Movie Maker and was somewhat successful at coming up with a little video accompanied by an original tune. The tune was done entirely on my M3 as all my good stuff was in a truck somewhere at the time. I wrote, recorded, compiled, edited, mixed and created a .WAV of the completed tune all on the M3 and a set of headphones, which was an exercise in itself. The video is just a photo collage of some keyboard restorations and other electronic projects I did.

Very nice job sir! I understand the 'learning curve' that you must have gone through to get this far.

David, to be perfectly honest, I have thought of selling my Ion more than a few times since I bought it new, back in 2004. But each time, before I finalize my decision, I played with it and tweaked it and the shear sonic capabilities, not to mention the more than adequate analog waveform emulation, made me change my mind.

Of course, the user interface is not to be neglected either, which is not necessarily the case with the Micron (Miniak). But nevertheless, the sound engine is the same.

So, keep your Miniak. Anyway, it's underrated so you probably wouldn't get much money out of selling it...

Yes, the Ion isn't perfect, but it can do things my other synths can't, and besides it sounds good.
I call it my Chameleon synth.
