I think will take care of that

But I think Amos is saying that he controls his FR XS with Little Phatty, which would mean that the maximum voltage coming from the LP would only be modulating parameters of the FR XS through half of their total range. By no means does a maximum range always have to be used, of course. Does the CP-251 amplify signals too?

Use the mixer section

From the 251 manual

FOUR-INPUT MIXER
A MIXER combines, or adds together, two or more signals. Your CP251's Four-Input
Mixer has four input jacks, labeled 1 through 4. Inputs 1 and 2 have input attenuator
knobs, while inputs 3 and 4 are mixed in without attenuation. The OFFSET knob raises or
lowers the voltage of the mix, while the MASTER knob determines the amplitude of the
entire mix. There are two output jacks, labeled "+" and "-". The "- "output is the negative
of the "+" output. That is, the voltage at the "-" output goes down when the voltage at
the "+" output goes up, and vice versa.

I ask about the LHC mod. it has been put on the back burner for now.

Great question ! This along with the sequencer idea posted here in the LP Forum would make getting a LP a no brainer for me.

The XS pitch CV is 1V per octave, and its gate input actually seems to turn on with anything above ~2-3 Volts. So, I haven't had any problems as far as that goes... for modulation purposes, it's true the Moog CVs will not sweep the full range of the XS CV inputs... as mentioned, a CP-251 can easily double or scale the voltages however you need, or you can just offset them with the XS knobs (adjust filter cutoff or modulation amount to taste on teh XS).

I'm sorry if this question has been asked already but I take it that I can connect i.e. an prodigy or rogue and control from the Lil Phatty with this?

The Gate signal format is different on these older Moog synths, but there is a conversion cable that is not very difficult to make, which will allow you to control the older Moog synths with the LP.

Google "v-trig to s-trig" or go here for more info.

Hi Amos, I too have an XS and Little Phatty (and the the new Oberheim Sem (mine shipped yesterday)!). My question is will I damage the Little Phatty in any way if I send cv's out from the XS into the little phatty? I just don't want to damage either. Thanks very much! Oh and thank you Amos for all of your latest up and coming updates for the MP201 also! The MP201 is fantastic now, but I can hardly wait for it's new HADRS's plus the other goodies you've mentioned. PS. I also have a chimera bc16 that I'm going to try and interface with the little phatty and XS. Thanks again Amos! Jaime
