Sweeet.

What are you using for amplification?

right now it's going into my QSC PA, which consists of 2 KW135's, 2 K12's, and a K-sub (the 2-18 sub coming soon). So, I guess you could say it's going through 5 1000 watt QSC amps :D

Last night I rattled the AC vents completely closed on the vaulted ceiling of our rehearsal room. (my neighbor across the street asked if a UFO landed in my backyard).

I've notice that a lot of people on here use amps (guitar, bass, etc) instead of PA's . . . what are the advantages to that? should I be looking?

Really guys, how in the world do you post pics here?????????? I once tried the flickr option, by posting a couple of pics there, then posting the link (bookended by the "img" thing) and the pics never showed. Only the url appeared. I've asked in a few other threads and no one has answered.

Any ideas?

What you need to do is get the url of the photograph, not the page that it's displayed on. I just go into the page source and grab the url.

There are no advantages to running synths through bass and guitar rigs...unless you have a Taurus, at which point a bass rig might be useful. What you have there is something I've always wanted but could never afford. :D

lol, no I think you have a pretty sweet amplification setup.

I use an old Kustom bass amp for synth stuff, but only because it's already there and I have it and it works pretty well.

I've also used the monitors connected to my computer before, which was also sounded fine, but I prefer to not be reliant on a computer for something so basic as simply hearing the synth.

But I'd definitely prefer your setup. :)

whew, what a relief.

Yeah, I've been collecting my PA piece-by-piece for about five years now. It sounds pretty awesome. My bass player has a 2000w Ampeg with the 810 cab, and my guitarist has two Marshall 900 half-stacks, and now I can drown them both out if i want. :D

Well... some want their synths sound a bit guitarish, nevermind the loss of frquencies...
I did at one point, and I think I'll do it again.

If you don't mind the loss of frequencies or coloration of the amp, or if that's what you're going for, then by all means, do so! :)

I think to cater for the full range of the synths, you've got a good setup. I use my bass rig (on the first page of this thread) as I play bass too and sort of migrated into synths (and I started mainly playing synth bass).. I have to say though, the tone shaping functions on my bass amp can make the Moog extra, extra phat, and my each of my speaker units has a tweeter, so I think the highs are pretty nicely covered too.

I'm sure your PA has good highs and tone shaping functions too, and it's more designed for the synth's range so I wouldn't change anything!

The advantages of running your synthesizer through a particular amp are just as many as there are running your guitar through it.

Signal flow is the decision of an artist/engineer.

No one would tell Picasso "If you don't mind the loss of frequencies other than those of blue, or if that's what you are going for, by all means do so."

Umm...and your point? I was under the impression that nahmashaman was going for a full range of sounds, and I was explaining that what he had did the job adequately. I then explained to stiiiiiiive that if he likes the sound of a synth going into a guitar amp, then that's great. Little confused here...
