"Under The Hood" System Settings NOT Saveable???

Post by Briman » Tue Jun 05, 2012 3:19 pm

Just got my new Minitaur... and totally love it's Huge, warm, sweet BIG Bottom sound...
just like my old Minimoog D!!! It took me about 2 seconds to dial up my fav Moog Bass sound with the Knobs!
It's very quick warm up time... is also really great! :)

However... the Minitaur's Editor... "Under The Hood" settings choices...
really need to have a "Save In Synth" option... so a User can use the Minitaur Live...
set up the way "they" want to use it... without the need to have a Laptop attached on Stage...
just to access these "System Settings"! (I use the Mac Editor version)

i.e. My Nord Micro Modular synth has a "Save In Synth" setting in it's Editor!

I see you can Save a new MIDI Channel in the Minitaur...
so why not things like:
- Note Sync
- Filter KB Tracking
- Filter & VCA Vel. Sens... etc, etc?
Shouldn't these "User Preferences" be mine to determine... & Save...
before taking my Minitaur on Stage... without a Laptop?!

Also... there seems to be no way how to tell what Firmware my new Minitaur has...
or where to find Info on what the latest Minitaur Firmware is... on the Moog Website?
Perhaps Moog will "push" out any new Firmware Updates to Registered Minitaur Owners in future?
And hopefully... with "Save In Synth" added to it... and the Editor as well! :)

That's good news Amos. I was wondering how to retain 'Under the Hood' settings whilst away from the computer. 8)

Hi Amos...

Thanks. Yes... great news that the Minitaur OS will soon be able to "Save in Synth"...
the Editor's "Under the Hood" settings! :)

Actually... the Nord "Micro Modular" I mentioned before... could also be a good OS "model" for the Minitaur...
as it similarly... also has an mac/pc Editor for it... and it is even smaller in size... than the Minitaur!
http://www.vintagesynth.com/clavia/nordmicro.php

hmmmm... I wonder if the Minitaur's architecture could also allow it to store the Editor's "saved" Patches...
in the Minitaur itself?! Then the User could just select the Patches with... "MIDI Patch Change" for Live use...
while away from their home computer!? :)

Perhaps... similar to the Minitaur's... "Save MIDI Channel" method... by use of it's "4" button switches...
you could also implement... say... maybe using 2 buttons at once to Save any front panel Edits you do to a Patch...
that you have called up by MIDI Patch Change!?

The Patches are only groups of CC# info... so are very small files indeed... to find room for!
btw: The Micro Modular has 99 Patch save locations!

This way... the Minitaur would then... have it all! :)

This is good news! :D
My Minitaur already rocks and the only thing I don't like about it is that the settings are not saveable at the moment.
