Whats the best midi-to-CV for moogerfoogers

Post by Rabalder » Mon Jan 30, 2012 12:46 pm

Ive been looking at Doepfers two standalone interfaces for controlling the frequency on my mf107.
I prefer the Dark Link, with glide...
Anyone using doepfer with the foogers?
All good???

I have been using the A-190-2 midi-to-CV with the Old School for a couple of years. No issues.

The Darklink is the same, in a stand alone version, with added midi over USB.

Since the title isn´t about Doepfer I might as well mention that the Kenton Pro Solo Mk II is great. Thers an LFO in there and lots of functions that are easy to edit. The menu system felt a little tiredsome before I got the hang of it.

An lfo is pretty cool.. Thanks for the tip.

I noticed the four outputs on the Doepfer MCV4 are all mono(TS)???
Would I only be able to use ONE cv-input on the freqbox if I use a TS cable for CV??

I Just started using Expert Sleepers Silentway. It works really well with my Moogerfoogers. All of those CV parameters in perfect sync with my projects. You must have specific hardware though. Most Motu audio interfaces work.

If you can find one, an Encore Expressionist is hard to beat. Ive never used an MP201 Moog pedal, but it should do it also.

Wow that $49 price point is looking good compared to MOTU's Volta at $199. I'm downloading when I get home! Thanks for the heads up.

Don´t know, but couldn´t it work if you use TRS plugs and keep the ring unconnected?

I did some reading...

With the 101,102 and 104 (possibly 103 and 105 as well) TS-cables work fine for all CV-inputs. But with TS-cables, an exp.pedal will not work. In that case all cables need to be TRS for the exp.pedal to work.

WIth the 107 and 108, both TS and TRS cables work fine regardless of connecting an exp.pedal or not.

So.., the TS-cables from the Doepfer MCV4 will work on all foogers. Unless its for the 101/102/103/104/105 while an exp.pedal is connected at the same time. Then you need TRS.... If you want the exp.pedal to work...

Im glad I got that sorted.

There you go.. that was easy : you got the basic rule, then the 257 exceptions ;)
