Possible trigging CP-251 S&H with audio?

I use a MonoMachine paired with a MachineDrum and I play bass, guitar & MonoMachine synth through a MF-101. It sounds great but I would like to use sample and hold to control the cutoff for a more "electronic" feel. One way to do it is to get a midi/cv converter and assign an LFO from the MonoMachine, the Kenton Pro Solo even has its own LFO to do this. But I was thinking of getting something more fun than just a midi/cv converter. Enter CP-251! The thing is I don´t really understand how it´s sample and hold function works, but from reading the manual I got an idea:

Can I send trig impulses from my Machinedrum into the TRIG-input, connect noise to the IN-input and thereby get random cv values to control my MF-101s cutoff at the times I want? If so, there´s so much more to do with a CP-251 than a midi/cv converter.

Missed the "USING THE CP-251 WITH OTHER MOOGERFOOGER MODULES" - section after the explanation of Sample And Hold. There´s the answer, and I won´t need to trig the CP-251 with an external audio source cause it can be done with env out from the MF-101. Fantastic!

Very tempted to get me a CP-251 now. And when I have that, it´s almost crime not to get a MF-102 so I can do the talking bass and get some nice synth-like sounds from my bass. And then...

What is great about this is that you can adjust how strong the trigger signal is. I'd set it up so that soft sounds wouldn't trigger the new random voltage, but loud sounds would. It adds randomness, but only when you call for it. Put it on a drum machine and adjust it so that the hi hat doesn't trigger it, but the kick does. Or on guitar so that single notes don't trigger, but chords do. So cool!
