Post by tore » Wed Jul 21, 2010 1:58 pm

The rack for moogerfoogers are 6 units, do I need a effect-rack bigger then that? Need space for patching you know..

The answer is "yes", you need room above for patching unless it's at the top of your rack. There is a little bit of room, but not enough in my opinion.

Obviously, the 251/351 types are fine but the normal fogger form factor has they sitting a bit recessed which is a problem with standard 1/4" plugs if you have any bend radius. Many have messed with a 'front-in' patching but that is not for the squeemish.

I have my 2 CP251 in a 4 unit rack and a 1 unit plate with a hole for the cables.(effect rack)
But how many units do I need for my foggers, anybody sitting with the knowledge?

All the best

Here is a set with the top row with front mounted jacks and the bottom row are stock. The gap between them is just barely enough. An extra inch would really help.

Even with all right-angle plugs, you are still just a bit shy (need 1RU for that)

wow, I was feeling proud of myself for rigging this up and then I clicked on this thread. Just a piano stand holding the dotcom with a rack and slanted shelf bought from a blockbuster that is going out of business for 15 bucks. Still, even after viewing this thread it's a big step up from the TV dinner trays/my lap I was using.
