Post by CRJ » Thu Oct 21, 2010 12:49 am

so ive been shopping around for a stand alone drum machine lately. i really like the how the electribes are set up, and im looking for something similar to that, but i do not have 300 bones to spend right now. any suggestions? im pairing this with my little phatty stage 2 if that is any help. i havent shopped for a drum machine in years. thanks for your time in advance.

I'd like to offer the totally useless opinion that you should be pairing the Phatty with a higher class drum machine like an Elektron or Jomox, or low end MPC if you only want samples to go with that analog goodness. These machines have character and want to be played. Generic drum machines less so. Sorry, just saying you should keep looking at the skies even if you can't go there.

What I meant was "thank me later", not should. :D

Good luck getting a good, fresh drum machine for $300.

Have you seen the MFB-522? It's $125 more than what you're asking for, but you might fall in love.

I use an e-mu command station to sequence my LP, external drum machines, and it's own internal engine. Usually $250 to $300. Works like a champ.

Unfortunately, the sequencer stores up to 1024 patterns and 512 songs.

it says the above quote in the description. is that a typo? why would that be a bad thing? is it supposed to say fortunately ya think?

found one for 200 bucks with free shipping. looking into it now.

Get an elektron on credit and dont buy any luxuries for how long it takes to pay it off, eat only rice and oats and dont leave the house, if you dont have enough money you dont have another option. OK

the possibility of the elektron machinedrum is almost endless and if you take the time to figure everything out, it can emulate almost all the vintage drum machines and more. i use the machinedrum with mbase and mbrane to give it the analog boost.
