MP-201 Software Editor

Post by honney-bayes » Tue Jun 08, 2010 7:49 am

So where is it Mr Moog? A while ago we discussed the merits of a software editor for the MP-201, and you sort of suggested someone would look at it when they got a chance. Are you anywhere nearer on this? I've now got so much stuff hooked up to the pedal it's hard to see the LCD display for all the lights and heat surrounding it. I'm sure you've got thousands of users with exactly the same problem.

HELP!

I wish this was a priority. I would be willing to pay for a software editor for the MP-201. If it was easier to edit I would use it much more. Frankly, I think it is a pain to edit. Are there only 2 people that want this?

Cheers,

I will pass along the word on this one. I think we have a guy who might do it - but it might come down to whether he decides to go to grad school in the fall, or work full-time for Moog. If this particular programmer doesn't work out, I am sure we can find one. Unfortunately I don't have any experience writing for personal computers; only embedded firmware. So, can't develop this one myself...

+1 on a software editor too. It would not only make the unit easier to use but far easier to learn how to use.

It would be lovely to have a software editor, like Native Instruments' freeware Controller Editor.

Hopefully released as software libre (GPL) which would give it an extra value too!

Pllllleeeeeeeaaaaaaassssseeeee.... sort out the software editor, I'm getting terrible pains in my back from all the crouching down. If you can't get me a software editor, maybe you could investigate a leg that attaches to the chest, so the pedal can be used on a table. Many thanks.

A software editor would be great but I would hope that they would add the triplets back in. I have no idea how that was missed. Triplets are integral to music creation and this should have been remedied immediately. Don't get me wrong. I am grateful for the new features they added, especially envelopes. But come on, no triplets??????????

Hang on a second, this thread is about a software editor. I've seen other threads about the triplet issue... as far as I'm concerned, they're not as important as the editor. Please hijack a different thread! Thanks.

Hello folks, any sign of this software editor yet? The push-dial on my MP-201 is starting to behave a little strangely... a software editor will solve this, and protect the hardware well into the distant future... PPPPLLLEEEEEAAASSSSSSEEEEEEEE!

I'd really like to see a software editor for this also...

hey again... currently buried in firmware for the Slim Phatty / Little Phatty OS 3.0... but I am very glad to see the continued activity on this thread.
I think that a software editor is probably the single smartest addition we could make to the MP-201 (well, aside from a CV input)...
The programmer I mentioned earlier did not in fact go off to grad school and probably needs some more work to do. He's just finishing up a custom tuning scale editor for the Phatty synths. Perhaps we can get him on the MP-201 editor as his next project!
No promises, but I'll strongly encourage folks to do this.

Would it be possible that Moog just released the sysex spec and let others knock up an editor?
