fishing with foogers{touring}
hey ya'll
what's the best way to tour with 7 foogers? i need them chest high and vertical or slanted. i don't know anything about anything. math,science,gear,equipment,hooking up things etc but i love it all. some people are telling me to use the skb\gator pop up cases or the like. i don't know of any mooger fooger specialists\case designers out there,but i am all ears ,peace BenjyScott

i have seen this amazing piece of work called the moogertron. it's the most beautiful thing in the world that the rest of the world needs to see. i seriously doubt i can afford this perfect craftsmanship. either way,well done and you should be signing autographs because you need to be famous,BenjyScott

Re: fishing with foogers{touring}
heh, thanks
We're currently working on a new design, this time with one big panel. More compact and less wiring.
I guess when you take into account the cost of 'foogers, the added cost of re-paneling would be too much for most. It'd be great to get wholesale PCBs from Moog and couple them with custom panels and cases.
So you can gig Moogers with 19" rack fittings. I've seen a few designs, they mostly work quite well with a patchbay. The problem is patching in the racks, which require an additional unit of headspace and right-angled plugs. If you're happy to lug around a few racks you could get your foogers mounted, and at chest height -- my definite preference for playing them. Then comes the issue of patchbays etc.; how much do you re-wire during a performance?

Re: fishing with foogers{touring}
my man
currently i am writing a record and teaching myself piano by way of a nord 3,2 m4 104zs,an mf 101,mf 102, mf 103,cp 251, a first generation little phatty,and a etherwave plus{soon to get a murf]. i just got the multi pedal yesterday. oh yeah, i have an elektron machine drum and also a korg rythem 55b{great fun} and moog is making me a taurus 3 due october{oh baby}.
i've made two records for a label and now i am a free agent. usually i played guitars,rock n roll, the like but now i am going for what i've always been too afraid of doing...following my dreams baby!
i won't play any shows for a while since i am writting and trapping myself into a corner only to come out swinging creatively.
i have never played live with the gear that i own, so i have no clue as to how it should be set up.
but your moogertron has an slanted\vertical accessability that i want. the synths being in front of me,maybe my modular rig to the left or right of me. i even thought of a slanted rig where the foogers are side by side in a chain, like a narrow guitar case so it won't rise above the nord 3 and so the audience will be able to see me!
but i am a moron with electronics,hooking up blue ray players,using an ipod{no joke friend} but for some reason i'm obsessed with technology,synths,and everything the kids in asheville are designing. people like you and the people at moog are my rockstars.
who knows how i should have my set up brother! but i still am going for the phillip glass,bruce haack dream world even though i don't speak the language....yet! look up benjy ferree on line,that's the old me. peace,benjyscott

those don't exist anymore and i did not play them,but my dear friend drew mills did. playing a late 60s wurlitzer with his hands and the snare with his left foot{def leopard style} and a bass drum with his right. i made my friend luis build a stand to put the snare on it's side out of wood and attach a piece of steel to connect the bass drum pedal. yours would have wires,some patch cables and would sound way more amazing,benjscott

got a cp 251 and a freqbox last month and am expecting a mono/poly tomorrow. its no voyager, but it does have a good number of cv ins and outs for a non ms/ps korg, and it has ssm oscs so its V/oct and should work well with the freqbox and co.

................what does "ssm, V\oct,ms\ps" mean? ......{scooby doo confused sound}
i just got a cp 251 a couple of weeks ago myself. can't wait to use it with the stage 2 upgrade cuz of the 5 new vcs...not that i could explain what it actually does or know rather....but it sounds cool?yes

Re: fishing with foogers{touring}
ssm (solid state music) was an american manufacturer of musical microchips, VCOs, VCAs, VCFs, &c, and since they were american, they use 1 volt per octave (V/oct) control voltages like moog equipment does, instead of the Hertz per volt (Hz/V) that had been used before by japanese synth makers, such as Korg with their patch-panel MS-10 and MS-20 (the latter preferred by some over the minimoog). what I'm saying is that I got a cool synth with CV ins and outs that will work with my moogerfoogers, which should be really cool. its cv ins an outs are about the same as the LP, and less than the voyager.
the cp-251 is a very useful unit. you can invert the envelope signal on the LPF (plug it into the mixer and use the "-" out) so that the cutoff goes down the louder you play instead of up, or run the S&H noise to the cutoff to get it to jump around. you can assign an lfo and the noise to control the delay time. if you turn the CV down low your echoes will have a nice chorused sound. there's a lot of other great stuff you can do too, of course!
