Hey, I''ve been trying to get a really solid white noise patch and could use some tips. I've turned off all 3 osc, leaving the noise on. I'd like to have it effected by the filter or touch screen, but it seems like my sound dies off too quickly. Kind of want a noise that can be cut off crisply and has some body to it.
Any suggestions? Tips?

Probably because no one knows what sound you are actually trying to create. Too vague to give any real info or help other than play with the knobs. (ALL of them, even if you don't think they may do anything)
"Music expresses that which can not be said and on which it is impossible to be silent."
Re: White Noise Patch help
Check the sustain on your volume envelopes, make sure they are higher than the decay.

Re: White Noise Patch help
Try putting the filters in bandpass mode. You can get some cool sweeps with bandpassed noise. Play with the envelopes to tailor the "slope" of the sound. If it's missing body, increase the sustain. A short decay makes the sound "snappy", while a long one can give subtle movement. To have the sound continue after you release a key, increase the release (and make sure the release switch is on).
So this thing only plays one note?

Re: White Noise Patch help
Sorry for being so vague, I had a hard time putting sound into words (Im sure most can relate). A bud of mine has an uncle, who owned a Korg MS10 or MS20? I remember seeing JMJ playing one in a video once. Just had the most solid, steady white noise. Very quick Env, with minimal decay. I probably route it the the Low Pass Filter (somehow), so it would enable me to give it motion.
Thanks for the input.

Re: White Noise Patch help
The ms20 has lowpass and highpass filters, thus creating a bandpass filter, just like the voyager.

Re: White Noise Patch help
there's a good course on programming synth's on sound on sound site. just check it out. lots of info on how to program analog synth's.
overall making the kind of sound you discribe is probably easy: noise on , filter little or more resonance, filterkeyfollow to one volt/octave,
filter envelopamount to , lets say 4 or 5, attack fast decay to 2, sustain to 5
turn down the cutoff freq to likings ... and that should be a good startingpoint

Also check out the book "Power Tools For Synthesizer Programming", recommended by many other forum members.
