For what it's worth, I read this forum because it is generally FREE of politics, and is of interest because I love my instruments. With that said, I would enjoy sitting down with any of you folks, or talking you for a sail.

And 'Trolls' can go play under a bridge.

Wow Analog Organist, you said everything I've been thinking and then some, thank you.

I was just telling my wife before I got online today that if that idiot was still here I'd just move on to another synth forum because the only reason I come here is to brag about Moog products, not my IQ, music education or sexuality.

I love sharing experiences with other gear heads here, but having to wade through garbage posts from insane, insecure people is simply not worth it.

I decided to end it. Nice posting with you, fellas. Thanks for all the advice. I'm having myself removed from the memberlist. Take care, Eric.

Just wondering.... who is this person who knows more than everyone combined??

If he/she is really that smart, we are better off without them.

Get out already!!!

Wonderful, the troll is back. That didn't take long.

If you're trying to ruin this forum you're doing a good job.

I was referring to Kevin Lightner. Now everyone knows that a troll like you ran off a very valued member.

I think I'll go elsewhere too, this is more idiocy than I care to waste my time on.

I'll just ignore the useless waste of bandwidth and from here on in, never respond to or about him. If no one responds, he'll get bored and go away.
Too bad he is driving off truly usefull members of the forum.

+1 Just me - Don't feed the troll. There are plenty of other suckers to play his/her game on other websites, and they will find them when they realize there is nothing to feed on here.

Some people are being a bit melodramatic. If you enjoy this place, but not some of the recent trolling problem, why not just refrain from logging in for a while and check back in the future? Is having the name removed from the user list really necessary? More work for Moog, when they've already begun to address the problem? And when they do, its not good enough?

I do agree that the trolling and spam suck, but its been relatively minor and there is some change happening and thats good enough for me at least, for the time being. A bit of restraint can also be a great troll deterrent, as these big dramatic posts about the troll are just feeding the problem and giving them exactly what they want; snapping our fingers and stomping our feet about it are not necessarily helping, nor are the drawn out tit-for-tat exchanges with the troll.

I agree with Erik in that I don't want this place to become overmoderated either, but I would definitely enjoy an ignore button as there have been times when a certain poster in this thread has done his own share of trolling in the past, and I would have enjoyed the option of simply ignoring it. An ignore feature can be a great tool, allowing people to do a bit of self-moderation when strong personalities regularly clash, for instance.

Ultimately, I'm sure this issue will work itself out soon, and if you (anyone whos thinking about leaving) really enjoys this place, I hope that you'll give it a bit of time and patience now that Moog has begun to address the problem, and that with a bit of collective restraint, the troll will get bored with the place and find somewhere else to hassle-- happens every time. I can understand not wanting to deal with this stuff, and if its getting you all worked up(internet shouldn't be such serious business) then it might be a good time to take a break and get some fresh air-- leaving for good though would be a shame (well, I wouldn't be too bummed if some people left... but I'd prefer an ignore feature so they could just do their thing without bothering me )

I don't think that anyone should be subject to any kind of verbal abuse and harassment either. If the moderators don't take action in these types of situations, then we have threads like this one and a helluvalotta non moog banter that dominates the forum.

From one of my favorite Guitar forums;

The Rules are as follows:

1. Registration is required to post and registrants are required to identify their true
name on registration and include an active email address. Members should understand that
there username and real name will be viewed next to their posts by those members who are
signed in to the #### Forum.

2. Posts shall not contain profanity, vulgar or crude language as defined by
Merriam-Webster and/or Oxford Dictionaries.

3. Posts shall not be rude, offensive or nonsensical.

4. Posts shall not show apparent disrespect for others, including #### and its employees

5. Topics focusing on religion, politics or sexuality are not permitted

6. Posts shall not be created to discuss contentious issues that originate in other forums.

7. Links to other chat forums are not allowed.

8. Posting shall not be created to air grievances or ask potentially compromising
information with regard to other companies or parties, by name or alias be they
individuals, groups or their associated websites.

9. Links to music forums where artists share their work, newsfeeds, myspace, youtube, ebay
and so forth are permitted but the individual posting such a link is fully responsible for vetting
the content such that it complies with #### rules.

10. Posts advertising commercial products are not permitted.

I would like to see Moog adopt similar forum rules, and the addition of a few moderators seems necessary as well. In 2 years at this guitar forum, I have never seen a troll there, and the conversations are polite, interesting, and - most importantly - relevant to the subject.
Here is one vote for a troll-free Moog forum.

Dont let it get to you

By letting something (in this case trolling) bother you, you are creating a problem within your self. Nothing is external, but a reflection. Be joyous and negativity seems to magically go away by itself.

Enjoy what you do.
Don't do anything you don't enjoy.
Simple.
