So how many sets of Pedals do famous rockers like Rush buy? IIRC, Alex uses them also (but looks like Roland pedals in use now).Klopfgeist wrote:Oh, I thought it was going to be Geddy Lee or someone!
These guys must buy 5-10 sets. 2 each for touring, some for home studio, for on location, for safe keeping, etc.

Believe it or not, I read in a Rush interview where they were discussing the recording of the Snakes & Arrows album that Geddy had to purchase his one & only set of Taurus Mk-1s back from the friend he had sold them to so he could record with them. I don't think Rush hoards up the gear like some would believe. As far as I know, Ged & Alex have each relied on the same 2 sets of MIDI pedals for quite some time now...MikeWfromNJ wrote:So how many sets of Pedals do famous rockers like Rush buy? Yeah Rush isn't even using any vintage gear now. I read that they sampled all of their synth sounds (including the Taurus) and loaded them into (i think) Roland rackmount samplers, and their PK5's just trigger the samplers.
So this thing only plays one note?

Correct, but they don't use Roland PK-5s, they use what I believe are older off-brand MIDI pedals, with square-edged foot pedals, spaced a tad further apart than the PK-5s are.Klopfgeist wrote:Yeah Rush isn't even using any vintage gear now.
