Mike Bucki gone?

Post by Voltor07 » Fri Jan 01, 2010 4:28 am

Check it out...can't find any contact information anywhere. Moogce.com has disappeared. Go to: http://search.retrosynth.com/ah/ and enter Bucki. No website anywhere has any contact info that has been updated. And no one has heard from him in three months. Anyone know of his whereabouts? :(

Well, he didn't have much interest in his site anyway. I think he last updated his site when I got my Osc driver.

The update before that was several years earlier that read "Still alive and well" so....

Where did you get "three months" from. You remember me telling you about my conversation with him, the rackmounted T1?

:)

I remember that, and I know he as a person still exists, but it seems he as a business has been missing for three months. As I said, no one knows where he is. Go to the link at the top of this page, choose last three months, and type Mike Bucki in the search.

His domain probably expired is all. When I talked to him Dec 7th or 8th, I indicated to him that it would be probably 2 years before I could order anything from him on a regular basis and he didn't indicate to me that he wasn't going to be in business. In fact, it was the opposite. His prices haven't changed either since the list that Ive posted here numerous times.

I first tried to make contact with him a few years before I actually got a hold of him, otherwise I would have a much different synth right now.

I don't know whats going on really, I certianly would like to know. I certianly hope nothing bad has happened. Id call him to verify this but I don't have a real reason to call him at this point.

Im probably going to order the Moog Modular Owners Manual from him sometime soon if I can so Im sure Ill update you.

EDIT: DUE TO THE SITUATION REGARDING NUMEROUS COMPLAINTS LODGED AGAINST MIKE BUCKI/MODUSONICS AND HIS FAILURE TO FIX OR RETURN MANY THOUSANDS OF DOLLARS WORTH OF MERCHANDISE TO HIS CUSTOMERS, I WILL NEVER DO BUSINESS WITH HIM AGAIN.
Eric

His website was modusonics.com but it looks like he forgot to renew his domain and someone else snatched it. It now displays a page advertising credit cards and debt counseling, but it appears to be a generic form web page as the banner is "modusonics.com" in a plain text header (dead giveaway of a scam). This kind of thing has been known to happen when domain owners forget the expiration date.

There ought to be a grace period for situations like this, to keep the vultures at bay for at least a week or two before the domain is released.

Damned vultures!

There is, its called "Your webpage is about to expire". THey really don't care who pays the small fee for the domain name, in fact godaddy can't even guarentee you that your name won't be sold without you being aware unless you pay for that protection.

If you think about it, its just like spending real money for fake crap on second life. Spending real money on virtual space.

I need to get someone to design my webpages for me lol.

Maybe he can find another domain to pay for that makes as much sense.

I did a little reading up on that, and it seems that providers aren't even playing by the rules when it comes to handling domains that are set to expire! There seem to be three companies whose entire business consists of snatching domain names as soon as they expire so that they can then put them up to the highest bidder! Some providers will even automatically take ownership of domain names as soon as they expire so that they can then do the same! You really have to be on top of your expiration date as even missing it by a few hours can put you at the mercy of some unscrupulous person. Some of these lowlifes will actually start routing people to porn sites from your URL in order to get you to pay an exorbitant price to get your domain back!

Happy New Year Eric, all the best!

Bob

Mike Bucki - What to do?

Post by zarone » Tue Jan 05, 2010 8:09 pm

Hello, I am new on this list (although a long-time AHer... :-)
I paid more than 600 $ to Mike Bucki in order to get a Moog Module made, much more than 1 year ago. He was not that prompt in his replies, much less in his production time. But now I am really worried, in that I am sure that I am experiencing a serious rip-off, first time on the Net so far.
I haven't had any reply from him since oct 2009. The last post I got reported that he was ready to ship the module. Then nothing. Now my messages are bouncing back to me.
If anybody over there can help me, I'll appreciate this so much before asking some friends at the NYPD for such an help...

My best regards

If I were you, (and I'm glad I'm not) I'd PM EricK. He has Bucki's contact information, and has been in contact with him more recently. Certainly I would think he would like to avoid becoming another Plan B. Welcome to the forum, and I hope you get this sorted out.

Mike is fine I spoke to him yesterday. He may actually finally update that site but he's just not too into the web thing.
