Software features..Filter Pole selection by any chance??????

Post by EricK » Tue Dec 15, 2009 2:48 pm

One of the Voyager's greatest features, is the abillity to change the filter pole selection. With a heavily overdriven filter such as that of the T3, it would be so dirtified to be able to select a 1 pole Taurus filter.

I am very very curious to know what types of alternate modulation possibillities lie beneath the surface of this behemoth.

Interesting ideas for sure...

As long as it wouldn't detract from their mandate of the sound quality first, I'm up for whatever :)

It just makes the filter sound brighter. If you run noise through the Vgr's LFP it sounds neat. But when you put it to 1 pole, and sweep, it sounds really middy, bright and dirty. Its a great sound.

It would be even more intense with the Taurus's filter and wouldn't detract at all, it would add to the versatillity of this uniquely overdriven filter.

I was really hoping that there was going to be an audio input to the filter.

I bet they will release a software update after it is released, hopefully listening to suggestions on the forum. Maybe after a few people get theirs we can start a poll or list here of suggested features.
So this thing only plays one note?

lolol were already telling them how displeased we are with the T3 and we JUST saw the first pics of it a few weeks ago.

No, kidding.

I don't know if a software solution would do the trick if they haven't wired the filter to be 1 pole or not. Thats a question for MC probably.

I'm not saying people are displeased and going to storm North Carolina with pitchforks and torches, but hopefully Moog left room in the Taurus 3 digital implementation for upgrades, like the MP-201. :D

Im really thinking about what kinds of features may be packed inside ths new T3.

Some questions I have...
Will we be able to change the filter poles?
Is there a software based noise source like on the Phatty?
Will there be an autotune function (or does the Hz/V Osc design warrant this at all?)
WHat kind of modulation possibillities are under the hood?

Hardware questions
Could the unit be modified to accept an audio input?
Could the unit be modified to provide CV outs?

Do I need to wear an athletic cup during the operation of this machinery?

The spec on this very site says,

"Field-upgradeable firmware using MIDI SysEx".

i assume this can be done in a back yard as well as a field (sorry).

Crikey, calm down Eric - we're still awaiting the first shipment.

i doubt you'll be able to change the poles as this will be set in the hardware, which is of course per original Taurus. As for the rest, who knows? (You had me worried when you mentione autotune, i thought you meant Antares Autotune :)).

You can change filter poles in the menu of the Little Phatty so there's a good chance this will be possible in the Taurus menu as well.

I would have built it to get the same sound, but not exactly recreate the limitations of the T1. I would have definately wanted to get that exact sound and then some. Play with it.

Maybe they will release a Fooger filter of the taurus pedals. heh if they did that they would be pulling a roland hahahaha.
