Need advice on a keyboard stand please
Any idea where I can find a stand for my Oberheim OBX-A and Little Phatty? I want the LP on top of the OBXA.
Thanks,
Cole
Thanks,
Cole
see if you like this one
i use an apex column stand... works well, looks good.
Get the better one rather than the delta low-end one. there's a new apex out now, might be even better, but pricey.
basically, I hates X-stands!!!!

The quicklock 2 tier stands will hold 2 88 key pianos like the Motif or the Fantom.
I don't know how tall the OB is but the quicklock IS an X Stand. I have my voyager sitting on one right now and have had the Voyager on the top tier.

I had my quicklock modified by a carpenter in order to hold the OB-8 (which is more or less the size and weight of the obxA).Cole Gaskins wrote:That thing doesn't look like it would hold the HUGE OBXA! Are you sure it will?
They are DEEP machines,
and I like the upper keyboard to "drop" immediately above the lower keyboard (hammond-style), I don't like to outreach for the upper keys.
I also like my keyboards flat, and at the closest height as possible
Finally, as I said, I switched to the more sturdy, four-legged WS series
(and sold the OB and the phatty... for a master, a prophet and a voyager, but that's another story)

I made a project using quiklock parts, then went to a carpenter and had everything customized,Cole Gaskins wrote:Yup, I was worried about the length of the OBie. I can find plenty that will hold just the OBie but not both. To make matters worse I've got my Taurus I I'd like to put down bellow. Anybody out there make custom stands?
and I spent almost nothing.
Asking a carpenter to cut three pieces of iron and re-soldering them will cost you... what? 30 bucks?
and complete repainting of the stand will cost 30 more.

The Taurus Pedals are forcing me to rethink my setup. I have the Voyager and MicroMoog to contend with so my boat is the same as yours.
THe Obxa is pretty huge.
What I would do, and what Im really thinking about doing is getting a tabletop stand, similar for what one might need for a Polymoog or Rhodes Stage with no legs and putting the Voyager on that, with the Taurus below
Now for the second tier you might just settle for a cheaper X Stand behind the table, but as far forward as you can get it. You still might need to reach a tiny bit for the phatty depending on the depth of the OB, but I think with that keyboard being super side like that, you are goign to have trouble reaching anything on the top tier anyway.
And the Taurus Pedals are probably deeper than that behemoth.
My problem is trying to find a keyboard stand that will hold the Voyager at piano height, and still be wide enough at the base to fit the taurus in so I can actually use them properly.
Are you looking for a studio rig or a gig rig?
Eric
Edit:
Wait, what about those tubular frame stands, A Stands or whatever, i think John L Rice has some?
