FreqBox + Low Pass Filter or FreqBox + Ring Modulator?
I currently have a MF-107 FreqBox. A friend of mine has a MF-101 Low Pass Filter and a MF-102 Ring Modulator that he wants to get rid of, but i can only afford one. Which one should I get? I'll be using them with bass guitar and guitar.
Hmmm,
Im a bass player and I use the Freqbox for distortion. I have a ringmod, but I never use it for Bass, but some bass players here do.
You might want to go with the LFP for two reasons.
1. If you play the bass, you can get some nice Wah SIMILAR sounds.
2. If you EVER find yourself getting into synthesis, or want to use your Bass with the 107 for distortion or for a synth bass sound, the best compliment to an Oscillator (freqbox) is a Filter pedal.
The Ringmod will definately give you some options especially if you DON"T have an expression pedal, for instance, using the 107 for distortion you can use the 102's LFO output to sweep the frequency of the 107.
There are a lot of things that you can do, but primarily for Bass guitar, Id probably go with the Filter.

That's kind of a tough call.
If I played more bass than guitar I'd vote for the MF101
If it were the opposite I'd say the MF102 .
If he'll let you explore them both first you'll have your answer.
I just got an MF102 and I play more guitar and keyboards and it's
just stellar with those .

Another 'fooger using bass player highly recommending the Lowpass over the Ringmod-
The Lowpass will get you dub style subbass tones, envelope filtering, 'synthy' manual swept filter with an expression pedal... it will help tame the Freqbox and great for fat synth bass, etc..

Synth bass guitar rig including MS-20 filter clone, Paradox TZF, MF101, 102, 103, 107(x2), CP-251 and MP-201
