Hello, I stumbled upon an interesting, and very entertaining synthesizer program called photosounder, the program uses pictures to play different frequencies, it also allows one to "draw" sounds, i highly recommend you play with the program, as it can be used to create some interesting sounds. More information, and a demo are available on the website www.photosounder.com

Is that sort of the same principle behind Reactable?

The Reactable looks like fun as well, I don't know how it works. The program photosounder is more like using a coordinate plane (y-axis is frequency, x is time) to graph sounds, as an example on can load a picture into the program and play it (fractals sound great, due to the math, i assume), or one can "draw a sound in the program, whereas reactable appears to be a control interface. If i am wrong about the function of reactable please correct me.

Looks similar to Metasynth.
