electrical engineer geek Pigtronix echolution question
A local guy wants to trade his Echolution straight across for my mf 102.
It seems like a good trade except for the fact I love my ring mod, cant live without it, plus it was my first mf that started my moog problem of needing to own all the moogerfoogers(memories that are warm and fuzzy) and its a 2004 model 50th anniversary. Obviously the echolution cant do the ring mod stuff and no lfo out or cv. But does the tremelo on the echolution work alone without delay to fill in light duty for my ringmod for tremelo/am until I get a new one. Moog do you promise to keep making the ringmod until I get a new one? Some one tell me if I am being stupid for thinking of letting my 40th anniversary mf 102 go. Seems historic, Is there extra value for an anniversary model? I sold my mf 104 2 years ago and have regretted it ever since. But I need a delay and the 102 isnt $700. So it should be easier to come up with $289 than $700. Opinions anyone. I figure electrical engineer geek has some info on the echolution since he works there. What ever you got would be appreciated.

I don't know if the Anniversary model 102 is worth more as a collector's edition, but sentimentally, I'd think it'd be priceless. If you REALLY want to make the trade, go ahead, but I wouldn't. I personally would NEVER trade my 102 for a delay...they are completely different effects.
Minitaur, CP-251, EHX #1 Echo, EHX Space Drums/Crash Pads, QSC GX-3, Pyramid stereo power amp, Miracle Pianos, Walking Stick ribbon controller, Synthutron.com, 1983 Hammond organ, dot com modular.
Yes it has millions in sentimental value. That was my first Moog and I was amazed at the sounds I could get the thing to make. Then I read the manual and it blew my mind. I'm a musician and not a math wiz but reading that manual made me want to go back to school to become an electrical engineer so I could make things like the moogerfoogers. I'm rambling.
This makes financial sense to do this trade but It still makes me sad to think about being without my 102. Maybe thats why it seems weird cause they are not the same effects. Its what he asked for. I didn't even offer any of them up for trade. I offered up a guitar amp and a synth. My moogerfoogers I bought to keep.
Is there not anyone on this board that owns this pedal. I want to hear how awesome it is. If it really is. It looks awesome. youtube reviews are impressive doesn't let me know how good it sounds or not though.

In your own words:
"I love my ring mod, it has millions in sentimental value ... the echolution cant do the ring mod stuff and no lfo out or cv."
You are correct to say this. The echolution is not a 102... it's an echo that does some of the stuff that you could potentially do with a 104. It's not a solution, it's not evolution, but it does repeat itself.
"I sold my mf 104 2 years ago and have regretted it ever since... My moogerfoogers I bought to keep."
Rightfully so. You have to do what you have to do to get by, and I'm sure your reason for it was just. Be patient, start saving and you'll be there again. Don't go using moogerfoogers that you use to replace moogerfoogers you had with pedals that aren't moogerfoogers.
Here's another way I would look at it: a gym has an offer for 3 months free membership, and a 1 year commitment after; you've been considering getting a membership at a gym. Do you get the membership because you are going to change your lifestyle, or because it's a deal? The catch is that it's only a deal if you change your lifestyle.

Vibration emanates from all things, even nothing. Using awareness to translate vibration into "music" is something that I am whole heartedly grateful for.

it really doesnt seem like you want to let your RM go. but if i were you, i would take the offer, sell the echolution, buy another RM and come out ahead with money to put towards more gear...thats just my thinking though. with it being the 40th anniversary it may not be worth more $ but its worth more senteimental value, and may be hard to find another one
my 2 cents

Don't worry, It's safe. It wasn't meant to be. I feel bad the guy dropped the echolution and broke some knobs off while giving it a shine up for me. So hows that for not meant to be. Pigtronix is a good company though and they are going to fix the unit so ill buy it sometime when the knobs are back on and everything works. I happened upon an old electroharmonix dmm that the guy bought second hand and thought it was a reissue, I don't think it is or its a reissue that sounds alot better than I expected a dmm to sound, either way It's nice to have delay again. I forgot how much better it makes everything sound. I knew but I forgot. Every delay pedal should have an effects loop though.
Lesson learned Moogerfoogers should be for life and you probably cant have enough different types of delays. Oh, and all the moogerfoogers are needed to be together ie a complete set so weird things don't happen. I think they get lonely without other moogerfoogers to chill with and most importantly my life would obviously shift into a state of correct order, inner peace and harmony, maybe some bliss and all that good stuff if a mf 104 of some kind came back to my set up.

I would have traded in a heartbeat....
Used Market:
Echolution - $400
Ringmod - $200
You could have sold the Echolution (assuming the guy hadn't broken it first) and purchased two Ringmods on the used market... or another Ringmod and a nice- but more simple delay. I don't quite understand the sentimentality, being that Moogerfoogers are pretty easy to find new or used. (and yes I did read the bit about 40th anniversary..)

Do you go around pointing out that the sky gets blue sometimes to people also. You don't understand the sentimentality. Well I'm not wasting my time explaining it to you. I don't understand why you would waste your time telling everyone the prices of above mentioned gear. I think anyone here already has learned the wonders of a google search. Not to mention we probably all know what we paid for our ringmods. But thanks for throwing in the only piece of info I didn't ask for, and knew. Money isn't always the most important thing in this world.
How come I get your attention and the one guy i wanted to hear from who even had his name in the title of this post I don't get a response from. I must be lucky. If you have an echolution and have some input about how it sounds, then by all means I am listening, but if not maybe read all the posts before you throw your comment out there. Maybe ask yourself, how is this going to help the current discussion.
Anyway its done so maybe a mod can erase this thread or something.
