Do you think an updated Analog Delay is in the works?
I think that one thing would be really nice is that if it didn't overload your speakers when you set it to 10. A compressor would eliminate those times where you are blasted out of your seat and you have to reach for the fastest way to get the volume back to normal.
I think that intermittant issues being corrected once and for all would be the top priority imho.
Bryan, how much did it cost you to ship your delay back? I got my RME.

Which time? LOL. I think it was $15 to $20 each time, mainly because I insured it for replacement value. On the third trip back they replaced all of the circuit boards. I want another one, but I'd like to see Moog add some functionality in the form of either tap tempo or a MIDI clock sync. That would make it more useful to me in the studio.

modulation and tap tempo is something a lot of other companies have been doing w/ delays and moog could definately update the analog delay w/ some of this stuff. has anyone checked out that malekko 919 analog delay...it's not out yet but the specs look dope and it's supposedly going to be under 3hundo!! still love my mf-104 though...
I'm curious about the BBD chips that other builders are using in their analog delays. I'm pretty sure Electro-Harmonix has moved to a cheaper chip for their new analog delays (Deluxe Memory Man XO, Memory Boy, Memory Toy), as the street price on these delays is really low. If the pedals sound good, then I'd like to see Moog look into making a cheaper 104Z or a delay priced in the range of the existing 104Z with added features (tap tempo, built-in modulation, MIDI clock, etc.).

as much as i would love to see the 104 in like a $300-400 price range, or even less lol, i dont at the same time because that means either features will get cut or sound quailty will suffer and i dont want to see/hear that happen. the only thing i would like to see changed is to make sure that shorting out thing that alot of people were complaining about i fixed

It isn't apparent to me that sound quality would have to suffer with the cheaper BBD chips. I've tried a few of the cheaper analog delays that are on the market and they sound pretty good to my ears.

i havent had a chance to play with a 104 so i probably have my expectation of the sound way too high, although great im sure its not as magical as i assume. but yeah there are some good sounding cheaper analog delays (carbon copy?) they are all just different

It is a great sounding delay, but the sound isn't $XXX better than a Carbon Copy or $YYY better than a Deluxe Memory Man. For me, though, the loop and CV inputs did justify the price premium. Is it possible to add some tape delay modes, or wouldn't that work with the bucket brigade design? I would ditch my tape for an updated delay with midi and modes (or programability of some kind).
