Didn't the Minimoog panel guy in South America have one for sale for, like, two grand? I didn't have the money at the time, and even if I did, there's no place for me to put it right now. I may be looking to Public Storage as it is.

I had to stop watching it after a certian point.

thats why those things are horroble. If you think about it though, it coudl be just as bad with someone sitting down, the leyboard covering their upper abdomen and letting whats lower shine off the bench.

I would be in line for a Liberation 2! I always thought that playing style was created with the invention of the Minimoog with it's wheels. Basically a right handed keyboard instrument, with the left hand bending notes, modulating, or otherwise altering the sound. Quite expressive in the right hands. I rember seeing the first remotes being played in the 70's by Edgar Winter, Jan Hammer, George Duke, and Gary Wright. Didn't the Liberation first appear in 1979 as a result of these pioneers with thier playing style? Whoever came up with the name Keytar anyway? I guess that is better than calling it a "Strap On"!
I did not get one till about 6 years ago, and I admit the first time I saw a Liberation in '79/'80, I did not like the idea of being guitar shaped. Liked the plain Mini remote better. The original.
Here are a few of mine?

Why do so many just hate these controllers. I have fun going into the local guitar center, and pluging into an amp in the guitar section just to piss off the "Guitarists".
Here is a video of some guy playing a custom painted AZ-1. Looks like fun!

Are you kidding? Keytars are huge right now. The good OOP* Korg controllers sell for like $1500.

*note -- that's the first time I've ever typed that silly abbreviation.

The first one on the left is a Liberation. A whole bunch of 'em are Yamahas. Yamaha had some nifty ones back in the '80's. Roland did too. See third from the right for a classy Roland, and 7th from the left for my favorite Yamaha. The LP looks NOTHING like a Yamaha ANYTHING! I saw one of those black and green Yamaha keytars at a garage sale when I was twelve. $50 was a lot of money to me back then, otherwise I'd have bought it!

CZ, is there any single synth you DON'T own? You're like the dude from Spinal Tap, except with synths instead of guitars! "Look at this one. I've never played it. It still has the price tag...don't touch it!"

I just sold one of the red yamaha's on the end there on ebay just before christmas for 450.00 to help pay for my Little Phatty. I couldn't believe how much people were giving for them. I sold it buy it now the first day. My mother in law got this for my 23 year old daughter in the 80s as a toy....amazing.

The red Yamaha on the end is used by Neil Cicierega from the geek rock band Lemon Demon. I always thought he'd look better with a Liberation, instead.
