Moog Liberation II =A Little Phatty with an arm. Ur Thoughts

Post by EricK » Sat Jan 17, 2009 2:56 am

I watched this demo video of the little phatty and it reminded me of the Liberation. He has a tribute edition. I thought....hmmm take the left panel off and add a new panel with a long arm and some cool features pertaining to the original, leave the pitch and mod wheels be and you have a Liberation II.

hahaha! WHat do you think?

It does remind me of a Liberation! Hmmm...perhaps when I order that green walking stick ribbon controller, I can make a Liberation with it? Thanks for the modification ideas EricK! Your brain has been doing overtime tonight!

Actually, I have held the LP like a keytar before. While it gets heavy after a while, like 5 minutes, it's quite comfortable to play like that. If I had wood sides, I'd add strap holders and the Walking Stick ribbon controller. And call it the Liberation Phatty.

Please, let the keytar rest in peace.

RIP? NEVER! I am one of the few people who think keytars (especially Moog ones) are cool!

If your back can handle an LP played like a keytar, it can handle a Liberation. Let me rephrase that. :) If MY back can handle an LP played like keytar WITH NO STRAP, YOUR back can handle a Liberation.

I think a new Liberation would be pretty cool. But it'd have to look better than those horrible looking pearl white controllers Roland are putting out these days... imho.

And it would need to be offered in COLORS! I mean for real. Guitarists have this massive selection of oxblood red, pearl green metallic, two and three color sun/wineburst, aquaburst, etc.etc.etc. What do keyboardists get? White, grey/silver, and red. Personally, I'd want a dark green Liberation II. You may want a blue one, or a purple one. (Purple would look nice, too).

The question, of course, is what Moog would have to put on hold in order to develop a Liberation II... And I'm one of those who thinks keytars are just a little... well... sad.

Liberation II is the best idea I've come across this forum... ever!

Ok, maybe not, but a I'd love to get my hands on a real Liberation. It just looks a lot better than most keytars. The new Roland thingy is just plain ugly. The original liberation and the old Korg RK-100 (?) are the best looking keytars, imo.

And please, let there be aftertouch!

Wow, I'm actually somewhat impressed by how many people are taking interest in the Liberation II idea. I could have sworn keytars died in 1992. I think a new one would have less knobs and more buttons, like the LP. Or, perhaps someone could buy the remaining Old Schools, turn them into Liberation II's, and re-sell them. Someone like, I dunno...MC or Kevin Lightner? Or, what if they built a Polyliberation? We would then have the best of polyphony and Liberation! I'm going to stop before I hurt myself, now.

You try to put the OS around your neck and youll definately be hurting yourself.

I think the coolest parts about the LIberation were its spring loaded cutoff freq things in the "fretboard".

THat thing just sounds great. Id love to get my hands on one.

I think though that if I had to get one of those, Id probably be looking to get a Hohner D6 and I coudn't decide.
