Lighted Old School Wheels

Post by djthomaswhite » Fri Jan 02, 2009 9:36 pm

Is it possible to lighted wheels in the Voyager Old School?

If so, can these be field installed or would they need to be installed by Moog Music?

Thomas

(Waiting for my whitewashed Old School to get here next week!)

An OS with LED's...I'm glad someone shares my enthusiasm for lighted...well...everything, really.

Excuse my asking, but doesn't lighting up an Old School sort of defeat the original conception of what the Old School is for? Just wondering... It'd look awesome anyway!

Many people light the wheels on their Sequential Pro-One's or other vintage synths. I am not so concerned about the OS being for anything as it was more of a cheaper Voyager than anything which led me to it. I always design my own patches so the memory will not be missed by me and I have a modular with a joystick for the X-Y pad effects.

I got the Whitewash Version and would like white lighted wheels and to replace the red and blue rocker switches with white ones too. I want a black and white custom job all around. Maybe even replacing the colored nuts on the back. Just my way of thinking about it. Synthwood.com does provide lighted wheels, but it would be much easier to plug in a normal Voyager set from the bigger version of the synth. Respect!

That'd look really awesome, especially the black-and-white custom.
Post some pics when you get it all done! I'd love to see them.

I don't think that would defeat the purpose of the OS. Some think that the purpose of the OS is to take you back to the glory of the Mini D. Patch sheets, no presets, and nothing but pure and simple analog bliss.

Considering that people mod their Model Ds, and considering that it really doesn't add anything digital to the OS then it doesn't change anything but the aesthetics.

Aesthetics are just as important as the sound! Speaking of which, expect a new video on Monday on my YouTube channel showing off MY custom synth, complete with modded wheel lights!

WOO!!!
I was just watching all your other videos this afternoon! :D
I enjoy going through vids like that on youtube, occassionally finding new sources of inspiration (as if the LP itself isn't inspiring enough). They're good vids.

EricK, I would be glad to show you the filter overdrive. Jamezdd, thanks for watching! I'm glad you like my videos. Hopefully, I don't end up with 25 minutes of footage this time around. I also hope to demonstrate a couple of my own patches I've programmed.
