I just purchased a used LP. It will be my 1st synth. It should be here Friday. It sure will be embarrassing walking around all week with a stiffy.
Any tips for giving it good run through to check that it is fully functioning? (the LP that is)

Nice screen name, but you better watch out because when the real Sir Nose finds out, he is going to come to your house and do his flexible dancing.

Just try every knob, modulation and function (the arppegiator for instance) and have fun. It can't do any harm to read the manual first, it gives you a good idea of the Phatty's capabilities.
Enjoy! And don't blame Moog for causing insomnia..
