Strange Sounds At Startup

Post by Jayrock » Thu Aug 14, 2008 2:35 pm

Hello all..
I have sucessfully updated my Voyager to the new operating system and it seems to work very well.
However, now when I first start up the unit, it plays a strange little S&H type sound for a few seconds.
Very odd indeed!
I tried everything... diconnecting the MIDI cords, changing the presets before restarting, making sure the mod wheels and amounts were down...etc, etc.
After the weird little startup, it plays great like always!
HELP!!!
Thanks,
Jay

Mine does that too. Nothing to worry about I hope.

Did your problem begin after the 3.4 upgrade mark?

I think its just a charachteristic of the Oscillators getting a power surge through them. (Granted im not an Engineer) The theremin does the same thing, you can tell with that that the the area around the antenna will get huge and then small as the power dies down.

Both of the Voyagers that I had did this and I think its just totally normal and part of the Analog experience.

SOmeone more wualified can verify or shoot down my thwory about the power though.

Unfortunately the RME is a new acquisition and one of the first things I did was update the OS, so I can't say for certain if the unit exhibited that behavior prior to the upgrade.

It's mildly disconcerting when it happens and my old keyboard Voyager didn't do it.

My Voyager Electric Blue does this too, but only since upgrading to OS 3.4. It seems to play normally afterwards.

Any response from Moog Music would be appreciated.

Thanks

Hi!
Sorry for this noise - it's difficult to get the problem on my prototype.
Please take a little time and check out a beta of the boot version:

Maybe that will fix your problems.
Have fun,
Rudi

Looks like it is the same with my Voyager: a strange starup sound, short one, if NOISE is ON and it's volume is at MAX - try it.

This was with 3.3 before I upgrade to 3.4, and still persisit now.

Yes! Once I applied Rudi's Bank B, "beta of the boot version" from this thread above, the startup sound disappeared!

Thanks a lot, Rudy

Yes, how about that. No more noise!

Also, had to send "Bank D" from the 3.4 update to finish it off.

Ah, Rudi is "Da Man."

By the way Rudi, thanks for the new OS. I'm especially enjoying the "Touch Surface LFO S+H feature."

Way cool.

Again, thanks for the fix.
