I grew up near Ithaca and went there alot as a kid and teenager. I now live in NC and have been to Asheville at least a dozen times for mini-vacations. Although I've never really thought about it - it has a very Ithaca feel to it - with mountains. It's a really beautiful area - the NC mountains and NC in general.

Scared? Of what?electrical_engineer_gEEk wrote:Anyone know why Bob decided to restart the company in Asheville? I've always wondered! People compare it to Ithaca but I've never been there to compare, I've always been a bit scared of the Carolinas myself for no real reason but ignorance.... (maybe too south for my tastes? *shrugs*)

The Appalachian mountains are amazingly beautiful and the people are in general very friendly!
As for Asheville, it is essentially known as the MINI (pun intended) San Francisco of the east coast! Hippies, great music all the time, sushi bars (too many to count), the one Republican who everyone makes fun of... "don't smoke pot"!
You should visit before you should judge electrical_engineer_gEEk and you will see why Dr. Moog choose the local!!
