Pawn Shop Deals Still Exist

Post by groovecake » Fri Apr 27, 2007 4:44 pm

Since the advent of E-bay, I had come to believe that the days of a great pawn shop steal had gone the way of the dinosaurs.

Not so.

Today, I stood there while a friend of mine walked out of a local pawn shop with two (not one...TWO) Moog Voyagers. Total price - $2,000.

I was glad for him...and slightly green with envy!! :? I told him that every musician had their one incredible gear-find story...and that this one was his.

So...you never know what you will find.

Were they stolen you think? Men Women and Children had one stolen last time they were here in Detroit. It seems hard to believe someone would sell their voyagers for 500 bucks a piece. That's not to say I wouldn't have bought them!!!!

my 1st post,so ill introduce myself,
im Johny , hello :)

anyhow,.

i picked up my voyager the other day from a pawn shop too,.!!
mine is a mint example of a standard voyager,. its the version where the pitchbend and modulation wheel do not light up :(

anyhow,. i paid £800 pounds for it, :)

i have a major question about it tho,

they dont transmit the knob changes do they ?
mine only seems to transmit its keyboard under midi,.
not pitchbend neither modulation wheel,.. nor any of the knobs,.
is this normal ?

With the editor software you can see the parameters change in real time.

I use MIDIOX along with the editing software.

MIDIOX is a great little utility.

i appreciate that input,
however my hardware 4x4 quatro says the voyager does not transmit knob tweaks nor movement on either wheels.,
is there an OS upgrade that changes this ?

Download the editor software and MIDIox and see for yourself.

If your Voyager isn't transmitting that info it's a tweak in the Voyagers' edit menu that you need. I'm using v2.5.

im sorry my other posts were off topic,
however i just want to mention that after a couple of hours research ive now upgraded my voyager from v1 os to v3.3 os with no problems and now all midi functions work wonderfully.,
however to be very honest im sure it would of been so easy for someone (anyone )to mention "just upgrade your operating system" would of saved a lot of time for a new user.
