Patch cords TS vs. TRS

Post by Rakuza » Thu Apr 08, 2004 10:50 pm

Hey,
I have been using regular mono instrument cables for MF 101, 102, and 103. I heard you're supposed to use "stereo" (TRS) cables. It seems to have been working fine with the monos. Am I missing something? Once in a while, something funny happens with my EP1, which I have a hunch is related, but other than that....

Any info?

Thanks,
R

For CV, that is. Left that out.
Obviously mono is fine for audio I/O

The TRS jacks (CV inputs) carry +5VDC on the ring for CV pedals. If you use TS plugs on these jacks then the ring is now shorted to the sleeve, but the +5VDC is protected against this condition and no damage will occur.
