this might be a dumb question, but i know very little about what it takes to make analog synths midi capable.
does anyone know if it can be done to the opus3?
thanks.

Unlike many polysynths with individulal VCOs that can be MIDIfied (like the Jupiters or Prophet), there isn't any simple way to MIDIfy a divide-down string synth like the Opus. So, you won't find any kits or services to implement MIDI on this type of synth.
If you want MIDI on a polysynth, take a look at some of the less expensive analog Polys with MIDI built in (Roland JX3P, JUNO 60 WITH DCB/MIDI CONVERTOR, Juno 106, Prophet 600, Korg Poly 61M, Korg Poly800, Korg DW8000, Siel DK600, Chroma Polaris, etc.).

Like the ARP Solina/Omni I/II and Polymoog, the Opus3 is a TOS divide down keyboard - there's no CV/trigger input for the polyphonic tones. The only way to implement MIDI is to order a kit that interfaces with the key contacts, and you'll have to enlist the services of a friendly tech. There is a fellow in Europe who makes these but I don't have his URL handy.
One more great thing about divide-down! Heh heh heh! All of my obsessive puristic elements align!
Keith, don't do it!! Don't MIDIfy the poor thing!
Down with cruel and inhumane MIDIfication of analog synths! ; )

Looks like Kenton made an Opus 3 MIDI kit
at one time. Velocity and aftertouch, interesting!
Here is a link with a PDF manual.
