Knob Calibration Sysex files?

Post by jessemiller » Sat Feb 22, 2025 6:26 pm

VCO2 on my backup Minitaur doesn't go all the way to an 8va up. And unison is more like 1 o'clock not noon. I tried converting these hex messages to sysex files for calibration but nothing is changing. Not sure if I converted correctly. Tried to do it in terminal. Do you have sysex files for the calibration? Or is there a better way to callibrate?

Pot Calibration:
Set all panel pots to minimum, then send: F0 04 08 14 00 00 F7.
Set all panel pots to maximum, then send: F0 04 08 14 01 00 F7.
Set VCO2 Freq and EG Amount pots exactly centered, then send:
F0 04 08 15 00 00 F7.

You can find the Sysex files and an explanation of the procedure linked on the following page from the Moog Support Knowledge base. It is #2 on the list, "Pot Calibration".

There are other useful links on this page such as presets, the latest firmware (v2.2.2, not v2.2.1 as the main Minitaur page suggests) and some helpful guides.

I don't know what is different from firmware v2.2.1 and v2.2.2. I couldn't find any documentation on this, but just FYI, it is there.

Here is what the included instructions say for Pot Calibration.

Minitaur Pot Calibration Instructions

Attached you will find the necessary .syx files(you may need to download Midi-ox for Win or Sysex Librarian for Mac to run these).

Midi-Ox for Windows: http://midiox.com/

Sysex Librarian for Mac: http://www.snoize.com/SysExLibrarian/

Here is the quick guide to how to run them:

Pot Cal Low: Turn panel potentiometers(but not the Fine Tune pot) to the fully Counter Clockwise Position. Run the PotCalLow.syx file from your computer.

Pot Cal High: Turn all panel potentiometers(but not the Fine Tune) to the fully Clockwise Position. Run the PotCalHigh.syx file from your computer.

Pot Cal Center: Turn the OSC2 Freq and the EG Amount pots to the NOON(straight vertical up) position. Run the Pot Cal Center.syx file from your computer.

Reboot and test the synth, you should be good to go.

Actually what I did appears to have worked. VCO2 now goes to 8va at high position

it seems that the link to download the sysex files is dead. Did anyone save the 3 sysex calibration files? We could share them here on the forum so they are available for the future.
