mounting moogerfoogers?

Post by ummagumma » Mon Jun 24, 2024 8:20 pm

Has anyone here mounted their foogers on something so they're easier to use & access vs on the floor?

I've seen a rackmount adaptor for 3x moogerfoogers. Am looking at doing something similar, but without a rack. Maybe a sheet of plywood holding them vertical so I can access the jacks & interface with my modular. I guess I can run screws thru the wood & into where the fooger feet thread in the bottom plates, to secure them.

Curious what others have done, thx

I have two of the Moogerfooger rackmount kits that work quite well. One has three Moogerfoogers in it and the other holds a vx351, vx352, cp251, and a Minitaur.

To mount most of my other pedals in a rack I used some rack blanking panels, a bit of MDF, pedal tape/velcro and some L shaped brackets from a DIY store.
The blanking panels are screwed into the rack. The bottom 2 screws also have the L shaped brackets hanging from them. The brackets are used to hold the MDF and forms a shelf. Then I use the pedal tape/velcro to secure the pedals.

I originally had a bit of wood instead of the blanking panels but it was a bit too chunky and stuck out too much for my liking.
You can see in the photo that the Moogerfooger front panels are recessed and sit flush with the front of the rack frame while the pedals below are sticking out

Thanks!

I did a search here too, found some good links.

I don't want to use a rack because it takes up too much room. A vertical flat board suspended below my modular would work better I think. Attached to something so it doesn't fall over. And the foogers would be tilted forward = easy access to all the jacks.

Something along the lines of what Demon_Dan talks about in this link:

Sounds good đź‘Ť.
If your board isn't too thick you can reattach the Moogerfooger feet so you don't loose them. The board goes between the Moogerfoogers and the feet and then you screw them together with the original Moogerfooger screws. That's what I've done with the rack.
With the other pedals I went with pedal tape/velcro to save trying to drill holes in the correct places on the board/panels and the shelf gives some extra support.

With the Moog rack you have to remove some side panels to fit the 3 Moogerfoogers in because the rack ears take some space but if you're just using a board or blanking panel you won't need to do that.
What do you plan on using to suspend the board ?

Hey that's a pretty good setup! Pic wasn't showing earlier.

I have my modular sitting on a 4x12 speaker cabinet. But will probably pull that out and put something else underneath instead: give some space for a mixer & I can anchor the foogerboard onto whatever it is, too. A desk might be a good idea, then I can store stuff underneath.

A desk or table sounds like a better idea than the speaker cabinet.

My last desk was from ikea and ended up bending under the weight of my gear. It got to the stage where it was beggining to collapsing so i built my own from 2 16u open frame racks, 2 extendable breakfast bar legs and some construction timbre.
The pic in my previous post shows the bottom left side.

Ha, yes the 4x12 was just supposed to be temporary, it's got casters so is easy to move around too. And I can still use it as a speaker cab. But as the modular expanded sideways ( it no longer all fits on the 4x12 ) I started rethinking the setup.

I could probably hang the foogers on an L bracket, the weight of the 5U cab would hold it down on the 4x12. But it would partially block the speakers. Maybe not a big deal. Thing is I can't really put the 4x12 anywhere else at the moment...I need more room

Mine are rack mounted, but I built my own solution which allows me to quickly remove them. The only downside of my solution is the tilting, but I can live with that.

I built some brackets with some U shaped alluminum and I clamped them between the bottom plate and the pedal.
The brackets have holes on the pedal side for the screws and larger holes on the other side for the screwdriver.

Then I mounted a steel bar on my rack where I can hang my Moogerfoogers, but a rack is not a requirement when you have those brackets.

And I can still use them on the floor or on a desk if I need to (I never do that, but I remove them often to access the cables on the back of that rack, hence the painting missing on some parts of the steel bar in the photo).
