Hello,
I purchased an Etherwave off Ebay a few years ago, this was a kit version built by someone else, and I was never happy with the sound and control. So I just set it aside for the time while I worked with my tube theremin.
I drug the Etherwave back out and just went thru an examination of the unit with the schematic and manual as reference.
One thing I found was the potentiometers do not match the schematic!
The schematic calls for two different values being 50k and 5k and that there are two of each value.
What I have measured are that three of the pots are 2.5k and one is 50k.
The Pitch and Volume pots, schematic calls for 5k, and measured is 2.5k.
The Waveform and Brightness pots, Schematic calls for 50k, and measured is 2.5k and 50k respectively.

This image of the pots with values as measured. Notice that the two pots that are marked the same part identifier are different values.
I suspect that one of the 50k pots was marked incorrectly from day one!
Another question is...
Did Moog change the 5k to 2.5k pots in a later versions?
I am ready to purchase replacement pots in order to match the schematic.
What do you guys think?
Thanks, Ray

Re: Etherwave Kit with issues
Hey Ray! It's definitely possible that the pots were mismarked, especially if it was a kit. I’d say go ahead and get the correct values to match the schematic—those 50k and 5k pots are key for getting the sound you want. Hope this helps, and I’m excited for you to get it sounding the way you want!level devil
