Moog Muse VS Moog ONE

OK. I got the Moog ONE 16 voice and just LOVE it....Do I correctly understand that it is discontinued? It looks to me like the Muse, great though it may be, is but a fraction of what the ONE really....I feel sure the cost of the ONE put some people offbeat it is STILL a beast...to me at least...Will we be abandoned as far as updates and all that? Does anyone have any sage advice and commentary on this issue...Many thanx to anyone that can shed a little light on this important issue......

I think the Moog One has been discontinued. I not know about the updates. I read some people on gearspace complaining about the firmware updates being cynical in regards to the Moog Muse saying
It will be like the Moog One .

Thank you for this.......I su[ported them with 10,000 plus 800.00 for a road case...........I sure wont ever do anything like that again...The Muse looks like about half of a Moog ONE 16V........oh well..I LOVE my Moog One.........

The Muse seems to be a Moog One Lite . The price would be more appealing I would think. Most people
cant afford the Moog One 16 or 8 voice. Same as with the MiniMoog Model D Reissue.5 K is a lot for a monophonic synth. I have the OBX8. It’s most expensive synth I have.

They’ve done that before. They came out with the Subsequent 37 and then the 25 a couple years later. It makes sense. You build the big thing with everything and then figure out what features are used most and exclude the rest for the next smaller one. I kept an eye on the One but it was much more than I needed. (I like more simple instruments, that’s why I prefer my Korg SV-2 over a Nord for a digital piano.) The Muse is something I like to buy at some point.

I’ve read the 8-voice One is discontinued but the 16 voice One is not. I suppose that also makes sense to not have competing products in the same line.

I’m interested in the Muse although I’m also interested in the Prophet 5 Rev4 . I have the OBX8.
I prefer 8 voice polyphony and stereo outs. I know that they are two different synth architectures.
I know the Muse is something new where the Prophet 5 Rev4 is nostalgia with modern improvements.
I’ve never had any QC issues with my OBX8 or my PRO3. I have a Voyager and it has had issues. Only time will tell about the Muse. I think it sounds great. Wish I could demo it somehow but where I live there aren’t any music stores that have them set up to demo. And there are 3 Guitar Centers I know of. Two in the Pittsburgh PA area and one in Youngstown Ohio.

Only place I know of where you can demo synths is Sweetwater. And that’s far away. I got my OBX8 from them although I didn’t demo it in person.

Funny: I have the exact opposite perception; the Grand Mother was the little one, aimed at getting funds for developing the big one, i.e. the Matriarch. And for the Subs, actually, the Sub Phatty was the little one that allowed to develop the Sub37 and Subsequent 37. The Subsequent 25 is not a stripped down Subsequent 37 but an enhanced Sub Phatty.

Hmm, that’s a fair point. I guess it depends on your starting point. Regardless, building a smaller to bigger version or mid to high end model generally makes sense in products. Car companies do it a lot too.

Flagship synths are expensive and I would think are lower in volume in regards to sales.

I'm often close to selling my Moog One 16 because of the Cherry Audio MemoryMode VSTi. If only the latter would offer an SVF and a real modulation matrix, I would pull the trigger. Soundwise, the VSTi is exactly on par with the hardware Moog One.
That being said, I do not see any sense in buying a MUSE. You can easily check out the VSTi for some time or buy it for 49USD (!!!), and then get your hands on a hardware MUSE. I highly doubt you would miss anything. If the same is true even for a Moog One owner (almost, see above), it must be even more true for anyopne interested in the MUSE.

I have both (although I’m still getting familiar with the Muse.) The Muse sounds great and has some innovative features, but overall it is no match for a 16 voice One. The One’s interface is very intuitive and easy to use. Not so with the Muse. You’ll have to menu dive in that little screen to get to most settings. And why they limited it to 16 banks of 16 presets (256 total) is a mystery to me. They’ve already released two batches of factory presets using 14 of the 16 banks each, but you have to plug in to a computer and overwrite them to switch between them.
