Volume mod and CV expander?

I'm seeking the most effective approach to incorporate both the volume mod and CV expander in my setup. Presently, I've integrated the volume mod, threading a stripped jumper cable long enough to reach the VCA in. After ensuring the jumper to VCA in remains intact, I connected the CV Expander. However, I've noticed some noise when the jumper cables are slightly adjusted. As a novice in this realm, I seek validation for my current setup or any suggestions for a more streamlined utilization of the Volume Mod and CV expander.
