Crackling Sound at Output Stage on Minimoog Model D 2016 reissue

Post by 83Philip » Mon Oct 16, 2023 11:01 am

Hi,

I have a Mini 2016 reissue. I love it! but I have been having this strange issue every now and then. I get this random crackling sound on all audio outputs: Hi, Lo, and Headphones. It sounds like wood burning, or cracking. It appears to be at the output stage, I have tried with all OSC off, Filter in full resonance, even when only using noise. It only happens when I play the keys, if I don't touch it, its fine. But when one plays on the keys, the crackling sound comes back. Its not very loud, just sounds like wood burning in the background. It appears in cold state and also on warmed state (On for several hours)

I have tried swapping PSU, no result. Different audio cabling, DI box, power filter, different PSU IEC cable also yielded no change. At first I thought perhaps it's a scratchy pot or switch, but after cleaning all pots and switches, it still persists. Before I visit a tech, I figured I would ask in the group if anybody else has this issue. Everything else works fine.

Thank in advance for your help.
