Grandmother: OSC1 sometimes does not work / MIDI issues

Post by Aszazin » Sun Oct 15, 2023 2:22 pm

I just purchased a Grandmother.

I have two very annoying issues:

1. Sometimes OSC1 does not work. To fix this, I need to turn the synth off & on again.
If I'm lucky, OSC1 works, if I'm unlucky I need to repeat turning off & on again.

Waiting (to warm up) does not help.

2. I tried to experiment with MIDI through USB. At first everything seems alright, until I playback my sequence, after which my Moog becomes unresponsive:
-Playing a sequence does nothing (but computer indicates a signal going out)
-Playing the keyboard does nothing (no sound)
-Playing the keyboard does not trigger MIDI input note on/off

It looks like the LFO shows issues too (light is not blinking any more, even when changing the rate to something that should clearly be visible on the LED when operating normally.)

I need to turn the GM off & back on to get it work again, but the problem always occurs again after playing a sequence through MIDI and pressing stop.
Using Windows 11 & free version of Cakewalk by Bandlab, not yet tried using my audio interface MIDI and the DIN MIDI in/output. I have not yet tried another MIDI sequencer.

Are these problems, or one of these problems possibly caused by a hardware defect?
Or are these things that might be fixed by a firmware update?
