Default Trigger Mode

Post by Taylor1995 » Wed Jan 22, 2020 12:49 am

Hello,

I wondered. Is there a way to set the Trigger mode and keyboard mode to other defaults? My default is lower Lower Key / Single Trigger, where i would prefer Last Key / Multi Trigger.

Regards.

Is it a Voyager PE, a Voyager Old School or a Model D you refer to?

Here the details from the Minimoog reissue manual:

Code: Select all

MULTI-TRIGGER ON
Hold this D Major chord (D3, F#3, A3) while turning
on the power to set Multi-Triggering to On.

MULTI-TRIGGER OFF (LEGATO MODE)
Hold this D Minor chord (D3, F3, A3) while turning on
the power to set Multi-Triggering to Off.
The later mode is also known as Single Trigger. This is the way the real Minimoogs worked.

And for Note priority:

Code: Select all

LAST NOTE PRIORITY
Hold this C Major chord (C3, E3, G3) while turning
on the power to choose Last Note Priority.
LOW NOTE PRIORITY
Hold this C minor chord (C3, Eb3, G3) while turning
on the power to choose Low Note Priority. This is the
default setting and how a classic Model D behaves.
HIGH NOTE PRIORITY
Hold this C augmented chord (C3, E3, G#3) while
turning on the power to choose High Note Priority.
Many of the old Minimoog licks played are based on the Single Trigger, Low Note Priority only original Minimoog hardware.
But to have the choice which mode is used is a great feature missed so often in the mono mode of modern polyphonic synths. And another problem is that many digital synth get the envelopes resetting to zero before starting the new note in monophonic mode. While the vintage analog synth all restarted their envelopes from where they release stage was before hitting a new note trigger. All these details where needed to get the famous Minimoog leadline sound like htey do: getting legato notes (not possible in Multi Trigger), not resetting to zero envelopes, and some playing tricks with the Low Note Priority by pressing a note and playing a second key below for a full legato downward trill.
keep on turning these Moog knobs

Sequence:
Prodigy * minimoog '79 * Voyager * MF102 * MF103 * MF104z * MP201 * Taurus 3 * Minitaur * Sub Phatty * MF105 * Minimoog 2017+ MUSE * One 16
