patching Voyager audio out into CP251 attenuator, ok?

Post by ummagumma » Sat Jul 13, 2019 2:50 pm

was experimenting and tried using a mix/out insert to feed the voyager XL audio through one of the front panel attenuators

I see from the manual that the inputs on these provide power for an expression pedal

is this a bad idea?

I guess this would also apply to the CP351

thx!

Shouldn’t be a problem. The 5V (presumably) used to accommodate expression pedals almost certainly has a protection resistor so you’re not shorting your input signal directly to 5V. Also the audio output is no different than connecting an LFO in this regard. You will still want to be aware of your mixer levels, not from a damage concern but potentially overloading the attenuator’s input.
