I own a lovely set of Mk 1's. Aside from Minotaur and studio imitation stuff I'm trying to get things going here! Can't believe how few share my excitement!
Serial numbers would be good too. How many do we have that have survived? Please check out the moog Taurus owners FB page too...

Re: Calling all TAURUS owners...
I just rebuilt serial number 2147. It still has its variables door, all pedals are intact along with the original power cord. It sounds magnificent.
EDIT 06/2018 ... and I just sold it to Chris Lord-Alge on Reverb.com recently.

Re: Calling all TAURUS owners...
My Moog Taurus 1 started out as a scrap T1 circuit board that I purchased off e-bay in 2008... I don't have a Serial Number, but, from the PCB components, the Board was manufactured in 1981
Since it was just a circuit board, I decided to make it a tabletop unit with MIDI IN triggered by external pedals...
MIDI to Parallel Converter from j-omega mimics the pedal contact closures...
I brought it back from the dead by repairing, replacing, rebuilding and troubleshooting...(and purchased the probably last Variables door from Mike Bucki)
My 'Rotary-Foot' Loudness and Filter Controls foreshadowed the T3 'Control-Wheels'
More info here...

Re: Calling all TAURUS owners...
Here's another non-working T1 that I just finished restoring... S/N 1708 From May 1976...
With my version of the micro-switch Contact board using the original Circuit Board and wire-harness as a base... works flawlessly
(none of Kevin's boards were available when I was building this one )
More info here...

Calling all TAURUS owners
Real quick, how do you all know the age of the rifles? Is there a serial number database?

Re: Calling all TAURUS owners...
To find a Taurus production date estimate, you will have to open up the Taurus and look for a Yellow production tag... most of them have a serial number and date...
If the tag has fallen off, or it's missing, you can estimate the date by looking at the date codes on some of the electronics components.. The Component date code is usually composed of the year and the week of that year. (i.e. 7714 is the 14th week of 1977) The actual Taurus Production date is usually around the date of the latest components... here's a few circuit board examples...
Another resource is this Facebook page which has some production dates and Serial numbers as a cross-reference...

I hope this helps

Re: Calling all TAURUS owners...
I'm looking to buy a T1 in excellent working order. Please PM me.
Original Model D, Taurus 1, Source, Minitaur, Voyager RME, One 16 voice
Re: Calling all TAURUS owners...
I bought another set of T1's a month ago. Due to my new work schedule, I decided to send it out to Jareth Lackey to rebuild/calibrate them. Jareth sent a video update to me and they sound awesome. They are serial #1393 which means it is the 393rd unit built. The date is was built is 11/11/1975.
Crazy. The unit is about to celebrate a 43rd birthday and it is still working and sounding thunderous!

Re: Calling all TAURUS owners...
Howdy Folks,
I had the pleasure of restoring a T1 from May 16th 1975 (S/N 1159). This unit was bought in an Estate sale and was missing the Pedals which were at one time connected to a remote connector on the back.
Since the pedals were gone, I installed a MIDI converter that allowed triggering of the Taurus over MIDI...
Here's some pix...

i m glad to have another one here who s also a proudl owner of a t 1.
mine has the ser. number 2842 and had been completely refurbished by the famous tech heinz weierhorst,...two caps had been removed
and the emphasis had been repaired as it didnt whistle. so he found out that the octave three position slider switch hadn t been tight down
to the circuit board. he gave it some heat and pushed it down and now the resonance is oscillating fine when pushing the slider fully
upwards, and he also removed the extended and glibbery foam rot.............and now it s like new
secondly, i have also the t2, he gave me extensively instruction on the phone, to put in a rocker switch to transpose the pitch for one octave downwards from '32 to '64.
now with the t2 i can see the frequencies jumping through my room
i also wanted to do the same on the t1, but he said it s not recommended, as the t1 is too shaky and working with hertz.......
both are in excellent condition, all pedals are unbroken and the cover cap of the t1 isn t missing......................and they re growling,
and growling, and growling.....like hell
cheers,
christian
