Cubasis issue

Doing my first steps into midi setup.
Connected my mother 32 into cubasis using irigmidi 2.
Opened a midi Chanel and opened the virtual keyboard inside cubasis. When I play it i hear the moog sound.
When I try to record, although cubasis triggers the mother 32 step sequencer,it won’t actually record it.
What do I miss?
