Can I buy a Fatar keybed from a Subsequent 37 for my Sub 37?

Post by Slowtrain » Thu Aug 24, 2017 10:37 am

I have a Korg Kronos 61 and a Novation Ultranova with Fatar semi-weighted keybeds, which I love. The action on my Sub 37 is way too stiff for me. I have spinal cord damage which has weakened my hands, and no amount of practice or exercise is going to help. I would really like to buy a keybed from the new Subsequent 37 to install into my Sub 37. I'm more than capable of doing the job if I can get the parts. Is there any way to buy Moog parts from the factory or from a vendor? Can I get the part number, and buy one direct from Fatar? Any help would be appreciated

I'm hoping for the same. I put in a RFQ and moog never responded. I already paid for a replacement keybed because mine was defective.

I'll pay for a subsequent keybed too if they'll sell me one.

Count me in as well....... The Sub 37s keybed is the worst thing about it by far....

I would suggest this. Rather than upgrading your Sub37, just sell it and get the subsequent37. Here's why.

1. Average used price for a Sub37 is about $1100.
2. If Moog WAS going to sell the Fatar upgrade, it'd cost $150 easily. I know this because the UltraNova keybed from Novation can be purchased from Novation for around $150.
3. Assuming none of the other upgrades, that takes you to $1250 value. Assuming you buy the subsequent37 from Sweetwater and get the extra year warranty included, how much would a two year warranty be worth to you? 100? Moog charges $160 for the additional three year warranty.

That's $1350 in value, and considering the keybed swap might only be available as a factory upgrade, not a field install, you'd have two way shipping and insurance. Plus down time.

When you add in any of the audio-path upgrades it's smarter money to sell the Sub37 and just buy a new subsequent37. I sold my Sub37 yesterday in a matter of hours.

I like your thinking but I would anticipate that the resale value of the Sub 37 might be about to fall, due to the arrival of the Subsequent plus there is another fundamental problem for me...

... Sell? Sell one of my synths? Are you mad? :D

The only synth I have ever sold was the MS20 re-issue with the slim keys otherwise.... I still have them all ....
