sub37: when last note priority doesn't work

Post by taylor12k » Fri Nov 18, 2016 1:08 pm

having trouble understanding some key action on the sub37. with LAST NOTE PRIORITY set on the preset level in some patches i can't get it to work.. playing while another key is held down doesn't trigger any new notes... last note priority certainly isn't the case there. i have to completely lift a key to get the next one to trigger.

is there a parameter i'm missing somewhere?

thanks...

Maybe duo mode is enabled?

no, duo doesn't make a difference.

if you go to bank 3 preset 1 "seeker of truth" and turn off the arpeggiator, then this happens.. you have you lift a key totally to play another note

KB PRIORITY determines how the oscillators react to key presses. You're not hearing it with that patch because that patch does not retrigger the envelopes when a new key is pressed while another key is held, and the amp envelope has a quick decay and no sustain. Try the next patch up (Bank 3, patch 2 "Lyrical Theremin") and you'll hear that it works.

To make "Seeker of Truth" work like you expect, turn MULTI TRIG on for both the filter and amp envelopes. Then the envelopes are retriggered each time a key is pressed.

Hope this helps.

ok, that makes sense, thanks.. i didn't realize the decay was set so short for that preset.. and wasn't sure if multi-trig overrode anything because, for example, the "lyrical theramin" patch doesn't have multi-trig enabled.

so, multi-trig and last key priority are mutually exclusive.. it was all about the too-short decay parameter on "seeker of truth"...

thanks for clearing that up!
