Niceeeee. If the Sub and Mother are any indication of sonic sounding direction, then we can't wait to hear the new edginess, and if sonic size matters, than a DXL can't be far behind...
Oh, and pay no attention to the wizards behind the curtain, we sense their blueprinting a cost effective Poly next.

Nah! Doesn't look right to me. I call 'fake' on this, but I'd be delighted to be proved wrong. Maybe it's a boutique third-party offering but I cannot believe Moog Inc. would produce such a thing when they've discontinued the VOS.
Re: New Model D ?
If I remember reading correctly Moog registered the Name "Moog model D" about the same time they came out with the new Modulars. It was around the same time as the whole Korg /Arp naming rights were being talked about. Maybe it's a limited run thing like the 15,35 and 55 Modulars.

@Red - well that doesn't look like the Asheville factory to me. I'd love Moog to reintroduce the Model D but I can't see what business sense it makes for them to recreate it accurately. They already had a superior 100% analogue product in the (now discontinued) VOS. Nevertheless, Moog are always full of surprises, so who knows?
Re: New Model D ?
Looks like it might have some CV outs.
Well, I'll appreciate and regularly play my 1978 Model D as long as I live, I don't care if its long-term value has been truncated.

Re: New Model D ?
I respect your opinion, but the VOS certainly isn't superior in the most important department - sound quality. I really wanted to like my Sub 37, but it was another "modern" analog without the proper vintage mojo IMO. Although Voyager is a very nice synth, I was never a 100% satisfied with that one either. But a proper Minimoog with the original 70s sound quality, that I'll buy in a heartbeat. Moog made some nice additions to new "Model D" too, like the extra LFO and modulation functions. Osc sync would have been nice too, but you can't have it all...Stevie Ray wrote:@Red - well that doesn't look like the Asheville factory to me. Re: New Model D ?
I've owned and restored four model Ds of various vintages and yes, they sound very good, but not outstanding to my ears. The VOS is more advanced and can sound just as good or better (subjectively). There's a huge amount of myth and legacy surrounding the Model D and a lot of it quite unjustified in my opinion.Mike37 wrote:I respect your opinion, but the VOS certainly isn't superior in the most important department - sound quality. I don't have any Model Ds any more but I still have a VOS.
