This week's purchases:

Wood to build the modular cabinet above the voyager XL. And the bottom row of modules. The top row will be accumulated over the next year or so.

Just arrived: a Thomas Henry-designed Mankato quadrature filter from STG Soundlabs:
Mankato.jpg
This is a four-pole lowpass filter with both positive and negative outputs at each pole, providing 6, 12, 18, 24 dB/oct responses simultaneously, plus the same four responses shifted by 180 degrees. Mixing the positive and negative outputs creates cool filtering variations. Cranking the resonance control turns it into a quadrature sine wave oscillator with 8 available phases (shown on the panel legend). Lotta versatility here…

Jsharpphoto: You need to add one of these to your rig (and congrats, BTW)!

I've spent some time looking at it, but need to spend some more time. I understand on paper what it does, but I'm still too much of a modular newb to understand HOW to use that.

Love the Mankato Filter! On my list of toys I'd like.

My latest purchase is not brand new although I did purchase the panel and 1/4" jacks. This weekend I converted my PAiA 9720 Dual Oscillator / Modulator from FRAC format to 5U for use in my Dotcom system.

Image

I love the sound of it and the modulator is quite handy both for the oscillators and for other modules. Having it in 5U format makes it easier on my CDO too (it's like OCD with the letters in the correct order). I plan to convert the rest of the 9700's modules over the next few months.

I just have to get more 25mm knobs to match the rest of my system.

You can read about the conversion process here.

All buttoned up. I couldn't bring myself to order 22 blank panels for the top row, so I cut and finished a scrap of 3/16 plywood to match the cabinet. It's actually thin enough that it can be cut with a straight edge and utility knife, so I can trim it down as I get individual modules.

That looks excellent! Very well done.

Actually I have panels which should arrive tomorrow to close up my open spaces. Fortunately I have them screened and filled with DIY modules as I build so they don't end up sitting in a pile.

Very nice modular you have there. How are you liking the Q119? I'm not sure if I want to purchase it or the Q960 first. I've heard great things about each one as they each seem to have their own strengths.

As you can see I have a space in my top cabinet all ready for one or the other :D

The Q119 is great. It's not amazing, or ground breaking. But I think it's a fantastic bit of kit for the money. If i was going to upgrade, I wouldn't upgrade to the Q960, I would save up for the Moon Modular 569. 4x8 in 3 Mu instead of 4. More powerful overall, but it's $1500.

Bought this new toy, because I was surprised how good it sounds. Too bad the keys are so small. Luckily I use a full size MIDI controller. 128 voices of polyphony is great, too !

No picture of it, but I snagged a Roland TR-8 for a song today, lightly used. It's a nice upgrade from my Tom Cat, but I might grow to miss the "personality" of the akai. No room for both, unfortunately.

As I`m a convinced ecologist for a longer time now I´m thinking about for replacing all the knobs of all my instruments with green chickenhead ones................
