which moogerfooger would/did you double up on first?

Post by godzilla » Wed Sep 14, 2005 1:42 am

which do you think it would be the most useful to have two of and why, can be a cp 251, would you get three or double up on another first would you not want two of any and wait for the next model to come out.

i think i would get a second filter, use the first as a sound source and filter it with the second. but i'll have to wait until i've got one of each to know for sure. Maybe with two MuRFs you could create some really cool quadraphonic spacial effects!

I've been meaning to start getting the moogers for a long time now but (wanting to get the whole set) was always unsure if should save up and try to get a 104 on auction before you have to get loan to get one, or to start at the 101 and forget about 104. Now i've ordered the 104z and will get the others starting from the 101.

having two 104 is a natural choice, thats what I´m thinking. The Voyager is stereo!
It´s not on top of my list though (just ordered a Murf) but when my Moogerfoogers are complete thats what I would get.
I could get hold on the last 104 of the first batch in germany.

(I still have a small Ibanez Analog Delay from early 80´s when I was playing in a New Wave Punk band I used it a lot, especialy with heavy feedback and than changing rate to make it cry. It sounds quite different from the 104. But it´s great too.)

Two filters are not realy necessary if you´re having a Voyager or an old Mini.

What could you do with two Ring Modulators ? Hmm …anyone experience out there?

The two 104's would be a dream come true for me, Just because It makes more sense to have two delay pedals than having two of any other effect.....but given that I use my Moogers in my home studio with an MPC1000, Korg karma & Guitar, I always find my self wishing for a second filter specially to use it with the MPC1000 and all those extra outputs. But before I get a second 101, I have to buy the MURF and the CP251 to complete my Moogerfooger collection. (Already pre-ordered my Z) !!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hello,

I have pre-ordered the first MF-104Z in Greece. :D I suppose it won't be long till I order another one. :D

By the way I have noticed that the knobs of the MuRF have a more pleasant feel than the Phaser and the Lowpass Filter. They have a nice resistance and seem to be closer to the chasis. I hope that the MF-104Z's knobs are like the MuRF's.

I suppose you can never have enough Moogs.

Since MF104m, MF105m, & MF107 will be getting more scarce, I'd love to own 2 of each of those.

But perhaps I better think about 2 MF108m's before Moog decides to discontinue those as well! Have to pay off the MF107 I have for now.

It's serious money just buying one Moogerfooger. Owning multiples just seems a bit pie in the sky!

I bought two 104ms and ideally I would like 2 of each. For now,
the voyager and foogers are in place of a full modular, but I can feel
they truly are the gateway drug.

I didn't see this thread when it first came around 10 years ago (zombie thread alert!), though I have at least two of everything except the MF-101. My first place prize goes surprisingly to the MF-103 Phaser. Two Phasers in series is more than double the fun. Second place goes to the MF-102 Ring Mod. Check out the most excellent 'Lord of the Ring Mod' pdf to be found over at the KnobTweak Yahoo Group. My third choice (again surprisingly) is the MF-107 FreqBox. This is the most misunderstood and underused of all the Foogers. Patching it in appropriately will give you so much timbral variety without going all grunge (if you know how to use it). Generating sub-harmonics is one of its most interesting tricks.

Two MF-108 ClusterFlux's is overkill IMHO as I already use it last in my chain to 'stereo-ize' the signal. I once had three MF-105 Murf's going which is great though you have to really adjust the mix knob on each one to not obscure the sound too much. One or two is all I really need these days.

Even though the vast majority claim to want dual MF-104 delays in their system, I have this and can't think of any real plusses other than running the L channel to one and the R channel to the other. Putting them in series is just overwhelming and doesn't have the clarity that one might wish for. A ClusterFlux at the end of the chain is far more useful for this boy.

I got interested in the idea of two 108M's after playing around with Haas effect. Seems like a nice fat chorus into a flanger set to simply spread the signal with no modulations might be cool. Plus, I really dig the sound of the 108! I have the 103 too but it just doesn't do it for me like the 108 does.

I never really got into the Bi-Phase thing. Most of the demos I've ever seen sound like mush.

Please expand on the use of the 107.

@Vsyevolod - RE: 107. Yes please more info would be great. I'm in love with my 107 now, wasn't a year ago...

As for two, I have to agree that two clusterflux's would be too much for me, but exploring Haas effect would be fun with it. Having a feed back loop for it just opens up sooooooo much.

Two phasers would be too much for me; two MuRFs would be wild; any others doubled would be totally usable. More than two FreqBoxes with a filter for each, now we're talking!!
Vibration emanates from all things, even nothing. Using awareness to translate vibration into "music" is something that I am whole heartedly grateful for.

I havent doubled up any, i have all except phaser and filter, I wanted to double the MF 104M from the day I got it till now so that would be my first and I think Cluster Flux would be the second choice for sure, just cuz I wud love to run stereo sources into them, although I love running a mono into the flux and getting a stereo out, the cluster flux sounds amazing, Midi murf could be cool on stereo too... Honestly I think we all would love at least 2 of each fooger, cp251 is the only one I wouldnt care if i didnt have 2

Those tips mentioned in this thread on freqbox 107 sound interesting, I wanna try that out, another monster pedal, once u a get a killer settings its like pure gold...
