Hi All,
I'm curious about the description of the limited XL Tolex version where it's stated that, "the chassis has been updated to parallel that of the original Moog modular synthesizers."
Anyone know how it was updated besides the Tolex covering?
Can't find that detail anywhere.
thx.

The markings/lettering under the dials is different. That's the only thing I spotted.

Thanks, seeing it now.
Circles around dials, finer hash marks in some cases.
no white title banners and oscillators numbered in the center.
among other things.
Cool!

Anyone know how the face plate is printed? Is it etched, silk screen, etc?

It's the Moog Modular style guide in action.
The markings appear to be applied to a lexan overlay (similar to the standard Voyager, unlike the way that the older Moog products were produced such as the Little Phatty Tribute which had silkscreened paint on the black metal and definitely not photo-foil or etched aluminum like the Modular itself).
I don't think the XL has backlighting, for better or worse (I say better) but it has two nifty TNC lamp sockets.
But this instrument is a looker. Nicer than any o the Selects in my opinion.

Thanks for that info! This truly is a sexy beast! And I agree for something like this the two lamps look classier than the back light. Plus it would be well over $6k I would imagine if it had back lightning for the whole panel, including the patch bay.

Yeah, that was their dilemma I think, machining the metals and getting the lighting panels made for jack field on the left. It would have added a bunch to the cost and made it additionally complex... who knows if the existing lighting source would have been sufficient.
When I had my select, I freaked out every time I turned it on, wondering if I was nearing the end-of-life for the light.. just one more unnecessary thing to go wrong. It's awesome to have honeycomb beige tinged backlighting with a golden oak lit mod wheel and all but so are lasers. Best to keep that to the production crew special effects guy.
